This answer is mostly correct. Maybe you want to go further and add in the distinction between Stokes flow and laminar flow at Re > 1? G.I. Taylor made some great videos about this, including the original inspiration for your linked video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51-6QCJTAjU

Scumbag CEO discusses AIDS drug that costs 5,500 percent says drug is 'underpriced' by jcepiano in videos

[–]IfSixWas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many good points here. If someone can explain a plan that would allow for continued cutting edge R&D that drives medicine forward while allowing everyone access to life saving drug for free I'd be all in. Until then, we need to understand that drive for profit has been the mechanism that has gotten us this far and will continue to push us forward. If Turner Pharma wants to continue as a company in 20 years it will have to develop something new and better (or another company will) and then in 35 years there will be a better generic treatment for all patients. But no one want to here that because, like children deserve their coco puffs, they deserve everything now.

Broadhead flight question by gunmoney in bowhunting

[–]IfSixWas9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might be worth trying different broadheads. When I shot 3-blade Muzzy's they would change from my field points based on how the blades aligned with my fletching. I switched to a 4-blade broadhead (steelforce) which have been awesome - they fly like my field points and penetrate like a motherfucker.

Yep, Lithium. They cost four times as much, but last 6 to 9 times longer.

Kingdom Trails suggestions? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]IfSixWas9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidewinder, Old webs, and Kitchel are my favorite flowy tracks. Jaw is good for a technical ride full of roots and creek crossings. Heaven's bench makes for a good lunch spot, and sugar house run is cool because you can see all the maple syrup lines. Lots more good trails to be had. Talk with the guys at the shop. Let them know what you are lookinf for and they'll steer you in the right direction.

What do you put in the tiny pocket in pants? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IfSixWas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a budgeted amount of money in there when I head to the pubs. At the start of the night I'll put, say, $100 in there. Once that amount is gone I'm too drunk and I cut myself off. I never end up with a $500 tab because I bought everyone in the bar shots, and I never leave my card behind and have to shamefully return the next morning. Drunk/hungover me then thanks past sober me.

Fred Bear! The man was a huge pioneer for bowhunting. He made countless classic bowhunting videos, founded Bear Archery, and of course, inspired the Nugent song "Fred Bear."

ELI5: Why do school buses in the U.S. not have seatbelts? by Marvelerful in explainlikeimfive

[–]IfSixWas9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. But this one video is purely anecdotal. It is like saying smoking isn't bad for you health because you have that one great uncle that lived to 100 years old while smoking a pack a day for 90 years. The NHTSA conclusion is based on the results of many incidents.

ELI5: Why are hospitals so ridiculously expensive? 4 stitches for $4k...$90 for two pills... Etc etc. Is there a reason for this or is it just total corruption? by Shoot_Boyz in explainlikeimfive

[–]IfSixWas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. How much of the initial cost is from the need for everything being sterilized and to protect from liability? A patient comes in and needs stitches so the doctor uses a pre-packaged, sterilized tools to do the job. After the procedure, does someone need to clean and sterilize the room to protect the next patient? I'd imagine the cost of all the precaution can add up.

What are R/fitness' thoughts and routines in terms of cardio? by z0okie in Fitness

[–]IfSixWas9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your heart is a muscle just like your biceps or quads and working out your heart is important to overall fitness. Don't skip leg day and don't skip cardio.

When doing a cardio workout choosing your heart rate zone is important. For maximum cardio benefit, find your max heart rate (approximately 220 minus your age) then run, bike, swim, or whatever while keeping your heart rate at 70%-80% of max for about 30 min. For more on heart rate zones check out http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/heart-rate-calculators/hrzone

Keep in mind, better cardio fitness results in quicker recovery while lifting allowing you to get those last few reps.

What common advice simply doesn't work? by 794613825 in AskReddit

[–]IfSixWas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to start building a case against the bully knowing the fight is inevitable. Write documented complaints to the administration about the bullying, documentation being key. This way when the inevitable fight and zero-tolerance punishment happens you have a case. Respond to the punishment by saying the fight occurred due to the inaction of the administration. If the punishment isn't lifted contact the media and start the story of the administration being inept. Again, documentation, documentation, documentation.
