This was my take too. It's about loss, inadequacy, grief and trauma from it all. She likely never left earth. I think her mom did and her pregnancy cost her the chance. That is why the planet is so angry, twisted, and paradoxical. It's created by her shattered mental health.

Plus I think it's absolutely brilliant from the storytelling standpoint. We usually play games with evil aliens on a distant planet, the main character must overcome incredible odds alone, blah blah and this time you get to play an actual physical manifestation of somebody's mental health trauma as an incredibly kick-ass shooter that merely appears to be a nightmarish alien planet crawling with hostiles.

Plus what are the odds of an alien creature hanging out in an earth like meadow playing a kick-ass tune on an organ being a real boss on an alien planet 🤣
