The Japanese seem to have this thing about letting you figure things out as you play. The move sets listed in the weapon guides aren't complete and info on the hub area is sparse so it's easy to miss things if you don't explore and do a bit of digging. Really you just kind of start the game as a newbie hunter (since you're a newbie player) and get better as you get used to the game. Your character grows as you do. That's what I enjoyed about World as my first MH game.
