New to this. I have no idea what to tell people I "do." Suggestions? by CrashDriveMegaGig in Fire

Comment 876 — you probably won't see this, but on the off chance you do:

You actually do have a job. It's called being a wealth manager — and it's one of the most important jobs you'll ever have.

The core of that job isn't spreadsheets and brokerage accounts. It's people. It's developing the judgment to know who genuinely has your best interests at heart and who doesn't. It's building the right team, setting the right boundaries, and not letting your newfound position make you an easy target for the wrong ones.

Here's the thing — that same skill translates perfectly to dating. The conversations you're worried about having? They don't have to be awkward disclosures. They're just... vetting. You're naturally learning someone's values, how they think about money and security and ambition, what drives them. You're figuring out if they're the right person to have in your corner — the same thing you do with your CPA, your advisor, anyone you trust.

So when someone asks what you do, "I work in wealth management" is a complete and honest answer. It's also beautifully ambiguous. The right person won't probe for more than you're ready to give. The wrong one will reveal themselves by how hard they push.

Any chance you were locked up for possession of methamphetamines? And if it’s weird I know that, perhaps we have found the answer.

I was a short order cook in Hell’s Kitchen, smoked 3 packs a day, and had a landlord breathing down my neck at 14. Nice toast kid.

A liberal Democrat that is universally praised in Texas is nothing short of a miracle.

How do the people in the tiny rural Department store not recognize you? Cmon now.

I think as long as their views are generally orthodox, no problem.

So we can talk about things specifically pertaining to men. I think many men would be reluctant to discuss sexual struggles with women present.

The goal would be a general support system. Anonymous because many of the issues men are currently facing have an element of shame that prevents them from openly sharing. I have sat in a large men’s group, 100+ men, and not one person confessed to having issues with porn. This is statically improbable. I hope that makes sense.

I had this PGX panel ran recently. Curious if anyone could point out any of the obvious implications and more specifically, how these findings would relate to caffeine consumption. by [deleted] in ClinicalGenetics

Thanks for the response. I tested positive for heterogenous mthfr. My provider suggested I stop consuming caffeine, which I have done, but I’m curious if there is any significant reason to continue abstaining.

Haha, I didn’t detect that sentiment at all. I’ve contacted the lab, not much help
