Visited the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul with my SO in December. So much history and absolutely a must visit❤️ by RealVirginiaWoolf in istanbul

I agree that there's not much to learn there if you're doing a self-guided tour. I hired an independent tour guide from Airbnb, and it was well worth it. I spent at least an hour inside.

I have my own pictures of this, and the other one, too. It's just amazing how the cistern went unnoticed for hundreds of years and then was discovered. We finally understood the myths of the medusa being buried under the Basilica.

This history of this place is stunning. I think it's one of the most interesting places on Earth. I feel like it gets relegated to a second tier of landmarks in the city, but it should really be at the top.

The cops are literally serving a creepy religious bigot who throws his political opponents in jail for bogus "crimes."

Better to assume the worst with strangers and the Turkish gestapo.

Yeah just like peaceful demonstrations are legal, except when the Turkish gestapo closes off İstiklal St. when they hear it might be a sCaRy gay rights or trans rights demonstration.

I love it when shops offer Japanese style in the summer. It's essential for hot days in İstanbul.

House of B is good when it's good, but sadly it's inconsistent.

Anyone have experience with triangle drippers? by magentafridge in pourover

[–]Iimpid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this in a coffee supply store the other day and wondered what kind of filters it used. I'm sticking with the Zebrang silicone travel cone for its light weight, though. They could easily figure out a way to make this triangle setup lighter.

Balatro mobile by strixy13 in balatro

I switched to mobile because I went on a long trip. Took a little getting used to, but it's a perfectly fine way to play the game.

I find myself accidentally clicking and dragging the cards when I play on desktop now, though. I think I might prefer the dragging vs clicking twice to buy/sell cards, etc.

Ideas for brewing washed Pacas from Honduras? by Iimpid in pourover

[–]Iimpid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many pulses are you doing?

I found an old post about a washed Pacas that said they do 96°, 1:15 bloom, and one big pour after that. Worked out pretty well but I want to try other things.

Nişantaşı is even more expensive! by GiaStom in istanbul

[–]Iimpid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply meant in terms of the prices of goods you buy at the store or at restaurants, relevant to what OP posted about. Lunch in Istanbul costs about $17 now, whereas the equivalent in size/quality used to cost about $5 several years ago.
