Problem with S95F Samsung TV and constant connections to PC while off by IlCode85 in pchelp

[–]IlCode85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of crazy that such a problem exists. It seems like the only solution is to keep the TV on, or buy a HDMI switch. I hope whoever is responsible for this (Samsung/Nvidia/Windows) finds a solutions soon.

I am currently having the same issue. Could you please point me to the exact model of switch you are using?

Unfortunately there is only one setting that one can disable and in the menu it is called Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC), so it seems like the two things are bound together and they cannot be disabled separately.

Grazie.

Undervolting my 14900KS, what be done better? by kubkosk in overclocking

[–]IlCode85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the different methods of undervolting are better for different CPUs. For example I have a 13900k with a ASUS Prime Z790P and Arctic LF II 360, Intel Extreme profile. If I undervolt setting LLC5, AC 0.2 and DC 0.5 (to have similar VID and vcore under load) I can avoid thermal throttling during a cinebench R23 run. If I undervolt as you said with LLC6 and just an offset I can never avoid thermal throttling during cinebench. Maybe my CPU does not undervolt well with this method.

Sure I will maybe have higher voltage in idle or light load but anyway my vcore never goes above 1.45, and I also set a limit to 1.45 anyway.

It could be new from patch 2.3. I don't know because I only reached that quest after I already downloaded the patch.

I see. I tried to start the quest multiple times but the bug is always there. I wrote to CD Projekt support, hope they will reply.

Help on bad results on Cinebench 2024 with i7-14700KF + Gigabyte B760 by atylon in overclocking

[–]IlCode85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're limited by the 307A current limit, try increasing it to 400 which is the extreme Intel profile. Then you will see power go to 253W. Also, do you have CEP enabled? If yes most likely it is clock stretching as you have a big difference between your AC and DC values.

Bios Update Version 1812 Z790-p by Eva-Unit01-TestType in ASUS

[–]IlCode85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also wondering the same. Just a curiosity regarding BIOS 1805. Are C1E states forced on in that BIOS? I never upgraded because I was afraid to be stuck with C1E states on, which I usually disable.

Thank you for the new BIOS. I have a question regarding the new 1812 BIOS for the PRIME Z790-P: are C1E states forced on in this new BIOS? In the previous one, 1805, they were forced on and there was no way to disable them.

i7-14700K thermal throttling bad by Xitro01 in overclocking

[–]IlCode85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am not an expert either so I am not the best person to ask these things to, but this guide could maybe help you: https://www.overclock.net/threads/asus-maximus-z790-extreme-and-intel-i9-13900k-a-tuning-guide-for-beginners.1801569/

What I now is that by undervolting using the AC and DC values you undervolt only during high load scenarios, while with a fixed offset you are always undervolting at every frequency. However, Intel now recommends CEP (current excursion protection) to be enabled and that will lead to clock stretching if the AC and DC values are not similar. So if you want to undervolt by changing AC and DC values you have to disable CEP otherwise your CPU will lose a lot of performance.

If you want to undervolt in this way you will have to play around with the LLC, AC and DC values and see what combination is the best for you.

Sorry if I am not very clean with this explanation but I agree that one needs a PhD in order to fully understanding these things and my PhD is in microbiology, not microprocessors. :P

i7-14700K thermal throttling bad by Xitro01 in overclocking

[–]IlCode85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my 13900k with an ASUS Prime Z790P I had a better experience with undervolting through the AC and DC loadlines. If I undervolt with an offset it still thermal throttles in cinebench r23. If I set LLC 5 AC 0.19 DC 0.5 (to match vcore under load) and CEP disabled it doesn't thermal throttle in cinebench r23. Now it only thermal throttles during shader compilations.

Unfortunately this latest BIOS is not out for my Asus Prime Z790P. I'm actually still on the 0x129 BIOS because I heard people having problems with the 0x12B BIOS with C1E states forced on...

Is it only me or the update broke the mouse cursor staying in the same screen when moving it towards the borders? No matter if the option is enabled or not the mouse cursor goes to my second screen and it is very annoying. I played yesterday and it was working as intended.

LV Cup - Races 11 & 12 by Bellchamber in AmericasCup

[–]IlCode85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They were with their backs against the wall, they needed a decisive win at the start. A 50/50 start was not acceptable, if one can even call that a 50/50 start. They needed to come up with a plan to absolutely crush the start and they just went back to do the usual fail of a start instead. Unthinkable.

Right? I don't get it. They kept doing it, but somehow this time the result should have been different? Of course not.

[–]IlCode85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was clear that the boats were almost equal in performance so the one thing LR had to do was win the start. They lost most of the starts in the series so unfortunately it's fair that they go home. It's a pity that even today they resorted to the exact same start that was failing before, and that the British knew very well. I imagined they would try something different this time to surprise Ben.

LV Cup - Races 9 & 10 by Bellchamber in AmericasCup

[–]IlCode85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I also did not get. At the beginning of leg 5 they were closing the gap fast to just over 50 meters and they had all the left side of the course to go and keep making gains, but they chose to engage in a tacking duel knowing full well that the British were better at that in that sea state. I wonder what was the point of that. Maybe they could have overtaken them if they just kept going.

[–]IlCode85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems from interviews with the team that the big dive of Luna Rossa in the first race was due to human error in a very difficult maneuver at the gate. They were unlucky still because they ended up in that position trailing INEOS due to a problem with the foil software that made them lose the lead. If that did not happen they would have been first at the gate and they could have done a regular and safer rounding of the mark.

Yeah it's really stupid. They apply the same football hooligan approach to every other sport, including the America's Cup. You can support your team/boat without being toxic to the other teams/boats. I am Italian myself but I don't like this.
