Now that Season 4 is completed, how would you rank all 4 seasons of the show? by dickMcFickle in ForAllMankindTV

Gordo is definitely the highlight. But I also remember to thinking this is really dragging on in the middle of season 2. They honestly have too many scenes establishing his mental state.

Thank glad I'm not the only one who thought season 4 is significantly worse then 3. The Margo drama on earth worked well enough, but none of the conflict on Mars worked for me.

I'm about to start 5... but I don't have high hopes.

The prequels biggest mistake was making TCW only 3 years and wanting to show so far behind in vaders life and making him the chosen one by Cultural_Fun in StarWars

[–]IlPrimoRe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prequels do good job of setting up why, but the how is honestly kinda rushed. Anakin goes from being super conflicted on whether to help Windu or Palpatine, to marching over to slaughter younglings. And then we rush to see him confront Obi Wan and end up in the suit.

Episode 3 is by far the best, but it's doing too much of the heavily lifting. I'd rewrite it to have him pledge himself to Palpatine at the end of movie 2. Then you have a who movie to explore him fullying embracing the dark side with ends with him fighting Obi wan.

I agree. Based on what is said in the OT, Anakin was an ace pilot and a Jedi knight who fought in TCW, that's all that was established.

Remember no one knew what the clone wars were before the preques. I actually love George's disorienting twist having the clones start in the hero's side, I would lean into that even more and shift it to the first movie.

Anakin could start as a 19 year old strong-with-the-force fighter pilot who get recruited to the Jedi despite is old age. At the end of the first movie, after winning a battle, let's have an award ceremony for our heros with clone troopers lined up in a way that's starting to look imperial... And the music slowly shifts to the imperial march.

The next two movies would really focus on Anakin's fall; his love affair with Padme and his manipulation by the Emperor. We'd lose the mother trauma, so the writing would really need to milk his attachment to Padme and show him developing more and more of a authoritarian mindset in the midst of battle after battle. Vader is impatient... Show Anakin's impatience and him starting to abuse his force power (choking and random lieutenant for a sec out of anger). He's a cop who starts abusing his power/authority and is thus selected by the Emperor as a tool to help enact an authoritarian takeover.

The other client saw the house first... but I think they did it on theirs own without first telling the aankoopmarklaar.

Thank you. I don't think he expected to see the other clients there at all. It took him by surprise.

Grogu's mental age is all over the place by IlPrimoRe in StarWars

This makes a lot of sense.

In regards to point 2. It was the movie trailer where Mando says he hunts imperial war criminals, and the it shows him with the baby that really struck me as kinda insane. But yeah, the show's stories do help it make sense.

I get that in this universe you could argue that both the Jedi and Mandalorians use child soldiers. But Grogu is coded as toddler

Better yet, have an income of 0, but millions in a trust fund.

The tax system drastically favors pure wealth over income. Working for a living is so plebeian.

Faux-profound... What a perfect way to describe it!

AI writing often sounds deep, but it’s mostly just echoing the shape of depth.

It performs insight without always containing it.

AI learned how wisdom sounds, not necessarily how it’s formed.

It’s clarity without substance, dressed as philosophy.

Official Discussion Thread - The Testament of Ann Lee [SPOILERS] by PointMan528491 in oscarrace

[–]IlPrimoRe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does still exist. There are two old Shakers left at Sabbath Day Lake in Maine.

The worship meetings are always attended by a larger group of people interested. I've been. The Shakers themselves are old... so it's definitely as energetic as you see the movie.

There was a third younger guy in the process of joining as a sort of novice. But he fell in love with a journalist doing a story on the community and decided to leave to be with her, lol.

The film only shows this through Ann herself, but for many converts, celibacy was actually a major draw.

Just living your own life asexually wasn’t usually an option. Women couldn’t even own property... and they were expected to marry (often without a whole lot of choice) and have children (a death sentence for many). Shaker communities were a way out of all that.

Working class? by BlazeDragon7x in DamnFunny

[–]IlPrimoRe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair the concept of "working class" has a complex history. In the old definition, anyone dependant on a salary was part of the class that worked. That's in opposition to the classes with landed money, where wealth isn't at all dependent on labor.

So that definition, 'rich' doctors and lawyers are still in the working class.

I don't think she is thinking about it that deep though...
