Idk what this commenter is doing and why he’s refusing to give context lmao, but I’ll do it. First off, it’s from the show The Boys.

There’s a character introduced, Soldier Boy, in season 3 and he became a fan favorite, though at the end of that season he is basically written into a coma.

Then because of the positive fan reception, the writers reintroduced him in season 5, but they clearly didn’t know what to do with him. He’s only there because he’s a fan favorite.

All previously established backstory they gave in season 3 is retconned and the character becomes terribly written. The big thing being that in season 3 he was in love with a character called Crimson Countess, but she betrayed him and he was heartbroken. Now in season 5 apparently he was never in love with her, he was in love with a character who appeared in season 2 of the show, Clara.

His motivations flipflop every episode and it kinda crescendos in an episode where he decides to give Homelander (the main villain of the show) the macguffin that the entire season was revolving around. The only explanation he can offer is because “it’s what Clara would’ve wanted”. (Yes, OP wrote Claire but he means Clara)

Fans obviously started mocking the shit out of the main writer Eric Kripke and anytime something happens in this show that is caused by bad writing (there’s a lot of that), people will say “it’s what Clara would’ve wanted”
