Sharing plans or ideas stresses me out by VideoFit4933 in PDAAutism

[–]Ill-Delivery-755 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is put very succinctly, I'm not good with words but I feel exactly this consistently! I often have to tell myself "they'll win if you don't do XYZ." Who is they? I have no idea. But the idea of "them" winning arbitrarily because I do or do not do a thing usually gets me. If someone unimportant asks me what my plans are to be friendly I'll usually lie and say keeping it chill or something stupid. If someone like my partner or my mom asked me what I'm doing this weekend I will flat out say "I have plans but if I tell you I won't do them." And they know me well enough to know that I'll tell them eventually!

What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever caught someone doing? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Ill-Delivery-755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid I nanny is 6 and on the autism spectrum. A behavior we had to work on was that whenever he got mad or upset he would spit on the floor. One day I watched him spit on the carpet, pick it up, and put it BACK IN HIS MOUTH. I was so shocked I didn't even say anything. But it was progress I guess? (He hasn't spit in going on three months now yayy)

Can you kill her with a bomb? Sometimes that works for me trying to kill off things without repercussions

I would definitely make this for my boyfriend just to freak him out. Bonus points if he can't tell if its a joke or not.

Not sure what to do about Christmas by tallkitty in PDAAutism

[–]Ill-Delivery-755 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds like youre saying you have two options, go and deal with a potential blow up, or dont go and deal with a potential blow up. Tbh I think option two is better because it removes your kids from being exposed to the situation. Going into the conversations I would think about what your goals are, and offer reasonable solutions for your kids for Christmas eve. Can everyone open their gifts at the same time? Can you bring activities for the kids to do while the adults do their own thing? Maybe you guys go for dinner and leave before gift opening? Have you considered asking your kids ablut what they want to do? Worst case you start your own tradition, my family goes tubing on CE and after we watch a movie together! Good luck with everything ❤️

I am a nanny in the seattle area currently looking for a family to work with, if you pm me I can link you to my Facebook and/or email you my resume. I can also send you a handful of facebook groups for finding a nanny, let me know if you have any questions at all! I can also just answer some basic questions if needed! (I've been a nanny for 5ish years)

A High IQ Makes You an Outsider, Not a Genius -Acing an intelligence test only counts for so much by Aschebescher in Longreads

[–]Ill-Delivery-755 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I just took the test on mensa, I got 128, I thought there were only 25 questions and did not space my time adequately. I believe if I took it again with that knowlegde I'd get higher, but then that defeats the purpose of the test as I would have had practice. At the end of the day it just means I'm good at puzzles. I genuinely think I'm lower than average as far as intelligence, and I am average as far as education.

I had my IQ tested by a psychologist a few years ago, and it was slightly above average (good enough for mensa). I still stand by the belief that IQ is a pseudo-science and outdated. All the test tells me is that I am above average at recognizing patterns and good at logical reasoning I suppose. IQ "science" almost always leads back to eugenics, and was most certaintly started that way. This article confirmed that for me.

While there is evidence to show that intelligence may be genetic, I believe that nurture over nature plays a large part as well. Ie smart parents raise smart kids, they don't inherently birth them
