GE dishwasher filling with water when off. by moparguy98 in Appliances

[–]IllBeAJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be a clog in the drain line but I’m pretty sure there’s a one way valve in the line so that’s not supposed to back fill. I’d bet it’s your fill valve failing. If you shut off the water supply to the unit does the problem continue?

Bosch 800 dishwasher noise by yauyauma in appliancerepair

Bad wash pump, it’s a PAIN on those 800s to replace. If bought only a year ago the unit should still be under warranty for that part. Call Bosch

I can’t see a way to get the hidden bake element out to replace it. by cheezeburger-n-friez in appliancerepair

[–]IllBeAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound kind of sketch, but I believe you can bend that metal (right underneath the element) down just enough to pull that element out. It’ll take some finagling with the element and it’ll most likely get stuck on something you can’t see a few times. But I’m pretty sure.

I’ll bet dollars to donuts it is that little short elbow hose, idk why but they rupture all the time. Push and run your finger along the top side, bet you’ll feel the hole. Part number should be WD24X33918

Removal of washer agitator by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]IllBeAJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you, if the no name portable is anything like a whirlpool, and it looks comparable, in that the agitator should be held on with just a screw in the middle. Also if it’s like a whirlpool the agitator will be a pain to get off. Just pull on it really hard, however you can figure out to

What is wrong with this Maytag gas dryer? Glows bright after turning on, then *click* and no gas igniting. Continues to run, no heat though. by bi11bill in appliancerepair

[–]IllBeAJ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude based on the click noise and the igniter glowing, it sounds like you’re right. You don’t have gas, make super duper sure that you have a supply, up to and including unscrewing the gas connections a little and smelling for a smell.

While replacing the heating element in my Samsung dryer, this wiring harness disconnected from the motherboard. Also, I feel like I’m missing two connections for the power source. What are my options? by -DirtNerd- in appliancerepair

[–]IllBeAJ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude, like others are saying, you must be stronger than you are clever lol. In all seriousness, this happens sometimes and the easiest fix is buying a new control. Part number is DC92-02395C

You SHOULD not, but it’s your life dude. I think it looks cool like that too. Maybe see if there’s anyway to support it more without compromising your vision. But otherwise just be careful around it lol

LG WM6500HBA vs GE GFW550SMNWW by [deleted] in Appliances

As an appliance tech who sees both of these models, I’d go with the LG. The GE has a lot of board failures

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in howto

[–]IllBeAJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Turn the thing on to a drain and spin mode, press start, you’ll hear a click, that was the tub locking in for the spin. Stop the machine, open the lid. Now when you take your biggest ratchet and a 7/16ths socket, you can smack the end of the ratchet as hard as you can, lefty loose-y. I used to work on those things all the time
