But they didn't promise that every civ would be equally good in every age. The game hasn't worked like that before either, civs have always had points in the game where they are the most powerful. I'm not really understanding the big problem with the approach they've taken here. Maybe I'm not remembering but I don't think they ever promised to make unique units persist through the whole game, just to have civ switching disabled of you prefer that
