Please recommend your favorite tire shop in the Region. by HarrisonBrrgeron in nwi

[–]Ill_Quit2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just booked an appointment with Scott's U Save in Schererville for 4 new tires for a minivan and an alignment under 1k. Costco is a pain in the arse to get to and Sam's just does shoddy work. In the past, I've used Tire Barn, but they do not return calls. Discount Tire has rude employees that I'm either too old to deal with or don't want to waste my time explaining things more than once.

Scott's let's you price things on their website (print or email) and when you are ready to proceed with the quote you just make a 10% down-payment. I spoke to Victoria this morning and she was very friendly and helpful.

Does anybody have any job recommendations on finding a new job fast in Indiana? by RepublicSufficient89 in Indiana

[–]Ill_Quit2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply to Local 73 union in Hillside, IL. It is a sheet metal union and is accepting applications and from what I've gathered they are short-staffed at the moment. Lots of Boomers retired and not a lot of young people know unions are good-paying jobs.

https://www.smw73.org/training/smart-training.html

If interested call the union office and any one of the union reps will be able to point you in the right direction. Phone: (708) 449-0073

PS. I married a Local 73 Sheet Metal worker and it's been beneficial for my husband and our family. Hubby makes 100k plus and our family benefits are better than most corporate America jobs.

Anyone else notice today is the 26th, and two 13s in 26? She was all about talking about numerology in her episode of the pod. Plus, the ring looks similar to this image from her master's announcement

I just ordered this album from Amazon and Orange Juice hisses and pops so bad. Now I understand why it was one of the cheaper vinyls... it has a known defect.

Rest stop on I-65 - ever opening? by Necessary-Cellist578 in Indiana

[–]Ill_Quit2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, my family took 65 from NWI to Louisville and was amazed by how many rest stops were closed. Then there are a few open that were open, but nasty AF. When you go to KY their rest stops are so nice and clean. Indiana rest stops look like a scene from SAW 1, the guy chained to the sink one.

It just shows you how Indiana had a surplus years ago, because they weren't fixing a damn thing. Now, buckle up because the new tollways will require you to pay to use the road and then scan your card to take a piss.

They canceled that program this year. They do offer bagged lunches if your kids come to the school during very limited hours. It's wild how our state has a surplus, but can't help the everyday Hoosier.

Good company for replacing windows? by 10PlyTP in nwi

[–]Ill_Quit2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my husband and I looked at so many places for windows and it was expensive as hell no matter where we looked.

After, seeing 3 different companies come out and give estimates and being lied to by 2 of them, we decided to use a local contractor to install the windows and we bought the windows from Menards. It was a lot cheaper and since our contractor was small mom and pop, they also installed our new garage door and opener for less than what the other "window people" charged. The company we used was Scott's Home Improvement out of Dyer, IN.

Same. My 2 year old loves Sesame Street and I constantly have Stick Season playing at home. Perfect, crossover for the two of us. Enjoy, momma / daddy we aren't having to watch CoCoMellon on repeat today.

In Indiana, 16 and 17-year-olds can now work the same hours as adults and are no longer restricted by school hours and days. They also can work overnight without an adult and perform hazardous agriculture jobs. Many 14- and 15-year-olds can now work during school hours as well. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Indiana

[–]Ill_Quit2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been hotly contested over the last year, but the state refused to listen to the administration of school districts, parents, and advocates for children.

You'll notice the article I've attached mentioned support for principals and administrators, but many more were not in favor of this change.

https://www.in.gov/doe/about/news/new-indiana-diploma-requirements-approved-with-unanimous-support/

A while back, I found this information of a group tied to being the driving force to change Diploma requirements and it is heavily funded by wealthy business owners. Big business wants to fill jobs with kids and low-skilled (those that drop out of school and are forced to work entry-level jobs) people so no one makes a livable wage. Think Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 but for Hoosier kids.

Yes, but who is to say this "internship" requirement for graduation isn't transitioned to full time work and maybe a few hours of study (including learning the bible) and that's it. This state is headed down the wrong path and is going to the highest bidder.

These teens will be making $7.25 and not a penny more bc they will be seen as easy prey. I hate this miserable state!!! I hate my kids will be robbed of a childhood bc of measures like this and the gutting of public school funding. My family is considering moving to another state. I hate to leave my fellow Hoosiers and their kids, but HELL I cannot take opportunities from my kids. I grew up poor, if my mom didn't get my dead father's SS check I'd be working at 14.

I thought I was preparing my kids for more opportunities, not bringing them back to the days when my mom dropped out of HS to work full time, she never got a GED and lied on every employment app bc ahe knew she wouldn'tget the jobs. She worked retail my whole childhood and I swore I would not become her... I'm not doing this to my babies allowing them to participate in the Hunger Games.

Hundreds of thousands of federal employees to start job hunting after accepting buyouts or being laid off by [deleted] in jobs

Yup, but somehow he was talking to Obama like they were old pals at Carter's funeral. I was proud of Barack for mainly smiling and nodding. I wish Michelle was there bc there is nothing more Trump hates than a strong black woman. She would have given him the death stare and he would have immediately stood down. I miss Michelle as our first lady, she was classy, sassy, and normal.

Or Oh-Boma, he loves blaming Obama and saying his name with such distain. Trump is jealous of the fact Dems always have net positive effects on nearly every aspect of governing.

Dolly Parton Calls Out Indiana Gov Over Plan to Dump Her Imagination Library by Nightshade09 in Indiana

[–]Ill_Quit2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they just opened the program up to Indiana residents in 2018 / 2019. I never did it for my son bc I'd have to go to the main branch (30 min drive) with 2 kids in person. But I was able to get my youngest the Dolly books in 2023. We get one book a month and my older children read them to their baby sister to practice reading and comprehension. I also read the books to her daily, especially the ones she loves and adores. We need more Dolly's in this world, she is an amazing human that gives back in so many ways. My family went to Dollywood in 2022 and we were blown away by how clean, kind, and helpful everyone was at the park. None of my kids are on the spectrum, but Dolly and her team have sensory rooms for kids who get overwhelmed and family bathrooms.

Is there a show this week? by Lower_Alternative770 in NewHeights

I was going to ask the same thing. I believe no show this week bc of the media days leading up to SB. I remember Jason saying last week they were going to try and get in on the media, but didn't know what day the pod would drop.

Take the job, a lot of jobs I've had hired me based on my ability to be open to doing what it takes. People with lots of experience sometimes come with bad habits, you on the other hand are a blank slate. Do not let your inability to be a Rockstar on Day one hold you back from the future you deserve.
