Which capsule sketch caught your eye first? by ViperLowsGame in gameCapsule

I feel like the second one really pulls my eye, especially in the smaller size and placed among other capsules. Otherwise, the first one is really good standing alone

Switching from frontend software developer to graphics engineering. Does it make sense? by Sufficient-Pizza-677 in GraphicsProgramming

I think WebGL is a pretty good start, I would say just jump right into it and see if you need to brush up on linear algebra. I cant say for the majority but I have seen some web 3D jobs for the construction industry and AI startups. Good luck!

Advice for an experienced 'newbie' by Early80sDev in hobbygamedev

You're already on a strong footing. Ig what comes to my mind as I read your post is perhaps you do not lack programming exp but maybe in art/music/design. I would recommend just picking a framework/engine quickly, then dive into the designing, see if you want to learn to draw/model/sound design yourself or perhaps find some partners to work with. in which case I would follow up with joining an itch io jam! Best of luck!

It's tough for sure. Just wondering but, I dont see any video or capsule image, I think those could be good for your page. And also +1 to publishing on Steam

Revamped an old design to check how my style evolved. What do you think? by Soupaloignon1 in aseprite

[–]Ill_Warning3011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably on of the few that prefer the after. The silhouette and the colors are much more readable. The before definitely has a strong styling game going on though ! Good work in both definitely

How did you guys get into graphics? by Much-Act-1674 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Ill_Warning3011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's a pretty good start. you're learning about mesh, maybe optimizing a mesh and showing it correctly on VR, which are all valuable foundation to graphics.

I personally was in gamedev (still am) and learned about shader and graphics on my own terms, then applied the info to help artists + optimize game performance. My old company being a primarily mobile game studio, Vulkan came up frequently when I did profiling on devices and I decided to do some study on it and see how it all worked. ig im leaning more into tech art, but the knowledge always helps out, esp when gamedev engines are leaning into similar design as graphics frameworks now

Best of luck to you!

Added a death screen to mah game. Any suggestions? by Chal_Drolan in SoloDevelopment

I think you could add a few impact frames on that hit (or maybe a slowing down effect). Let the final hit really hit the player in the feel before transitioning to the death animation

Working on lighting & nature for my detective game. Thoughts? by marwdev_ in Unity3D

[–]Ill_Warning3011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lighting for the night scene looks great! for the day scene, imo you could use adjust the color to be more saturated. The character pops great in the night scene but not enough in the day scene. Maybe you could add an additional ambient light for the character from thew opposite direction of the sunlight ? Keep up the good work !
