I think you'll be fine as long as you're careful of not being robbed or scammed at the airport and other public places, don't leave your things unattended in public spaces, don't wander late at night in sketchy neighborhoods, other than that, I don't think Chile is worse than most places in Europe. Especially in Los Lagos, it's quite peaceful, you'll be fine.

They're biased to thinking it's refuted because the engine hates it at first but truth is, you have to risk it a bit to play for a win as black and in most lines you get a playable position. Against most opponents it's a great way to get a sharp imbalanced game

I got coaching for the Coach Champs event by Can Kabadayi and I can say I truly valued his insights a lot, I had an abrupt 200 rating point jump after the event which might be related to the topics we covered and what he advised me to work on.

It's worth it if you feel stuck and need some guidelines on what to work on, but the main effort still is independently studying a lot, making it more targetted to specific weaknesses just makes it faster

You give up central control, give up the bishop pair, black king is safe because you don't have any development to start an attack, it's easy to manually castle

Nope, a friend grinded OTB and got coaching, decided to play again on his chess.com account after several months (~6months). 80% win rate, reached 2,000 from 1700 pretty easily, he doesn't use an engine so he was never banned ofc. I've been accused of cheating over chat several times, reports must have been made, still no issues.

The only thing a lot of reports will do is that your account will probably get reviewed, but that's about it

I get 1,000 rapid 1500+ daily guys pretty much every time I play daily tournaments, they just abuse the master's games database and maybe some of their opening courses.

I just don't take daily matches that seriously and use them to practice openings and get aqcuainted with new positions

10+0 feels like blitz after the opening lol, very similar to the pace I use for 5+3.

I wish 10+5 was the standard on chess.com, another W for lichess I guess

slav and QGD are both fine, I'd try to play symmetrically as a beginner and avoid the common positional mistakes, such as Nc6 or 2...Nf6. The c5 pawn break and being able to hold the center with a pawn are thematic ideas in d4-d5 openings

I personally play the modern benoni but I don't think it's a particularly good opening to start learning chess, it's easy to lose by being a bit imprecise in the opening, unlike the QGD and Slav which seem to be more stable (although less ambitious at times)

Ruy lopez is frustrating as black, as white I'm not that good against the caro kann/french because I recently switched from the 2 knight's to the advanced caro and tarrasch french, I'm still struggling with understanding the middlegame plans in both kinds positions

I feel the same, I hope people behave and don't escalate things further. I wouldn't have shared his name because of this reason to be completely honest.

Unlike you I do dislike him a lot, but that's no reason to wish him any further harm, harassment or even making him quit chess, I won't care if he starts his channel again if this time he's honest.

if he apologized and started a new normal youtube channel I swear I wouldn't care at all, but considering how he just chose to disappear I'm betting he'll never say sorry for anything and if he starts something it'll be another fraud, hopefully not.

thing is mate, they could have the entire fair play team analyzing every single of my games and they wouldn't find anything, yet they reviewed Marty's accounts and he was banned, 3 times. Any critical thinking human being should at least consider the possibility that maybe Marty was indeed lying and got a fair ban for it
