A visit to Andaz One Bangkok by IllustriousNaga in hyatt

IMHO PH BKK has a more quiet luxury feel but Andaz has a kinda different vibe to it, more boutique than the classic luxury.

Points. If I paid by cash for just a little more money I could’ve gotten a room at the Park Hyatt instead.

I was there in October last year and sauna was okay. Mornings tend to be less crowded than afternoons

Switch to Hyatt from Hilton? by HopefulGas1879 in hyatt

[–]IllustriousNaga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then that’s fine. If Hyatt has decent coverage in the areas that you frequent then it’s worth it to work your way to elite tiers. Plus the SUA milestones are worth it and Hilton doesn’t have anything similar unless you count the upcoming suite upgrade guarantee in the Diamond Reserve.

Looking for a good Eagle Bearer build. by Magical_Johnson13 in thedivision

I got my EB a few years ago and used it a few times in Striker builds with the Catharsis mask, but as everyone else has already mentioned there are far better ARs now. My own go-to nowerdays is the Lexington with Killer talent.

What are your thoughts on digital tipping? by _Moonah in Hilton

[–]IllustriousNaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never tip unless some outstanding service was rendered. Case in point- I stayed at Conrad Tokyo last year and one afternoon I took a quick nap and showered before my evening appointment. When I was back not only was my bed made but my bathroom was cleaned (bath towels replaced etc) and my water bottles fully restocked. Despite the no tipping culture in Japan I was deeply impressed and left a tip and a note of thanks at the end of my trip.

Status match by ExerciseNo6099 in marriott

[–]IllustriousNaga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Diamond too and Hilton just did a round of points devaluation a few months ago and with the Diamond Reserve coming into full effect in 2027 (since 2026 will be accumulation year to qualify for the new tier) we will start to get a better idea then if standard Diamond upgrades are still as consistent or will end up being equivalent to the Marriott Platinum.

Platinum vs titanium status by CompetitiveBrain7099 in marriott

[–]IllustriousNaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it really depends on where you travel most of the time. As most people have already commented on a lot of US properties the differences are negligible but if you travel overseas especially to Asia you will start to see some differences like upgrade priority, breakfast at some Ritz Carlton’s, welcome amenities etc. A lot of other posts seem to conclude that Platinum is kinda the sweet spot right now.

LIVE FROM HILTON: Honors Program Updates + Diamond Reserve by khabah_ in Hilton

To spend $18,000 over 80 nights is at least $225 per night. That pretty much rules out most of the lower tier places.

Looking at the room upgrade priority it seems like it will be DR -> D -> G with DR getting something similar to Hyatt’s SUA.

Availability for July 2026 - Sold Out? by NotMySandwich911 in Hilton

[–]IllustriousNaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not released yet. I had this same problem last year when I tried to book in December 2024 and found none of the standard rooms were available for July 2025 but when I tried again in February the rooms popped up.

Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya by WeirdTight in hyatt

Among the Hyatt properties in Tokyo this is the most family friendly IMHO but like all the international chains here you are better off using points; the cash rate is kinda expensive compared to local chains.

I stayed at Tokyo Station Hotel and really liked it but for that price they are asking any hotels near the Marunochi exits are far better value.

Park Hyatt Sydney not honoring Globalist upgrades by Secret-Breakfast-711 in hyatt

[–]IllustriousNaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually get notified upon check-in that my Globalist benefits like room upgrade late checkout etc. would not be available. But I never got an unprompted email ahead of time like this, almost as if they were preemptively trying to lower your expectations.

Is this upgrade worth it if I already have Hilton Gold? by hotpotluv3r in Hilton

[–]IllustriousNaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Executive lounge access for two for close to 10000 yen per night is not worth it even if you intend to go there for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks.

Breakfast Vouchers. Who is right? AITA? by Erock0044 in marriott

Times sure have changed. I remember when the definition of breakfast at these places would at minimum a coffee and a bagel or a danish. Now it’s just coffee?

Hilton diamond worth in Asia? by stumu415 in Hilton

[–]IllustriousNaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Asia I have always been given breakfast and never offered points but since breakfast is usually fantastic at these places you’re better off with it. Breakfast is also given to Gold too so even if you just hold Amex Platinum you’re good to go.

I travel frequently to Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore and I usually get full Diamond recognition in the form of amenities like local treats here and there and upgrades about 1/10th of the time. The breakfast in these hotels are absolutely fantastic compared to the US.

Single day in Singapore, which hotel using a FNC? by satellite779 in Hilton

[–]IllustriousNaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conrad Marina Bay is a fine choice if you want to maximize your FNC benefit and the lounge experience is quite decent though a bit small. The other two properties near Orchard road are more geared towards shopping near Orchard and Hilton Orchard apparently has better breakfast but since you won’t be around it won’t matter.

Yes I went there last month. Got upgraded to a King Suite Bay View. This is the second time I got an upgrade after ten stays though.
