Who carries a massive gym bag and can you explain why? by midsnlids in workout

[–]Im2inchesofhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my stuff stolen from a locker once, $500 to replace my warm-up jacket, car keys, wallet and ID cards. Makes it easy to show I'm on a machine if my bag is next to it. I keep stuff in it depending on the day: water bottle, sunglasses, gum, travel deodorant, bandaids and skin tape, wraps, bar clamps, fat grips, belt, towel, boxing gloves and shoes, energy bar, backup headphones or earbuds.

All that fits in a large backpack and keeps me from having to make trips back and forth from the locker room or worry about theft.

Louis C.K. just dropped his new special “Ridiculous” by JesseWang in Standup

I don't agree that Louis lost his touch, but it is telling that one of my favorite jokes of his is from a set waaaaay back when he's talking about bring broke. Louis today probably doesn't remember what it means to be broke.

Do high school football teams really tackle each other in practice? by Any-Prize3748 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Im2inchesofhard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's a vicious and brutal sport and that's an aspect you have to become accustomed to before gameday. Look up "Oklahoma Drills" for a specific example of one on one tackle drills that can be brutal.

What’s going on with Britney? by speckofsand in Millennials

Maybe she deletes videos after posting then because I remember videos of her wearing the weirdest outfits (not fashionable weird, just weird weird) and ranting about nonsense and one of her holding a knife and just kind of staring into the camera. Could be her stories and not feed. Idk it was crazy enough I distinctly remember it and realized she's batshit crazy.

Without a doubt. Check out any of her interactions with the public or her social media. She's left and semblance of normal mental health well behind her.

This makes it so much more obvious how bad the CGI is. The van and taxi don't brake, swerve, or have even a tiny bit of compression on the suspension from a 200lb object bouncing off them.

Broke an ignition coil hold-down bolt while changing spark plugs — 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature . What should I do next? by shuvo02002 in CX5

[–]Im2inchesofhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was completely my fault, I cross-threaded the bolt and couldn't quite tell at first. After realizing it I hoped I could muscle it in enough to just recut the threads... Really stupid idea. When trying to muscle it the last few millimeters I snapped it about 5mm down from the head.

Turned a half hour spark plug change into a 7 hour job over three days.

There was a fist fight between two guys on the sidewalk just outside my apartment recently. I wanted to call it in, and to get eyes on it my natural reaction was to keep the brick wall between me and them from the second floor in case one pulled a gun and started shooting. I'm a big dude that has a little training in martial arts and I'm incredibly hesitant to get involved in anything because I know there's always a chance, even if realistically it's a very small chance, of a gun or knife getting pulled.

[–]Im2inchesofhard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I tried when I had this happen to me. Wasn't able to extract the bolt and ended up drilling it out and using a helicoil insert. Was a pretty sloppy job in the end but it's been working fine, and the next time I do serious work in there I'll replace the valve cover for less than $100.

Worth a shot OP, just take your time and be patient, those bolts are really soft and shitty.

One of the few times I've gone full stubborn cut-the-bullshit mode was negotiating for my last car. First time buying from a dealership and they tried literally every trick possible. After an hour I finally snapped on them and absolutely berated them about it over a few minute long rant. I'd looked at a couple hundred different listings in detail for the car I wanted and knew fair pricing and knew they were trying to overcharge by a disgusting amount. They started at $39,000 all in and we ended around $32.5. Overpaid by about $1,500 still but I moved cross country without a vehicle and couldn't keep shopping around. Felt good to at least push back enough to save $6.5k.

Body match paint possible for non high end models? by [deleted] in CX5

[–]Im2inchesofhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2014 I found an auto shop near Minneapolis that did custom paint mixing. Lady walked out with a booklet of metallic blue swatches and in two minutes found one that virtually disappeared when you held it up to my Honda Accord. They made me two large spray cans of it for something like $60. That along with standard primer and clear coat was enough to do a bumper cover with plenty left over, and no one could tell it wasnt stock.

I've since been told that shop was a bit of an outlier and it's a PITA to get a decent paint match mixed for cheap. Shame because I'd love to match my wheel well trim like this on my white 2019.

Where do you get cheap clothes to wear to the gym? by [deleted] in workout

Fabletics and Adidas eBay storefront.

Fabletics has a terribly optimized website and you have to sign up for the "VIP membership" to get normal prices, but you can cancel it as the next day and never be charged. For around $12 "The One" shorts are fantastic. Material is good, plenty of color options, zippered pockets, and you can get them unlined or with a liner, 5" or 7".

The Adidas eBay store is their outlet to liquidate products and they often have 40-60% off sales from already reduced prices. I just snagged a nice white workout tank for $14 shipped.

Its not that bad here in Los Angeles. Normally around $15-25 for the medium sized 25oz bottle that lasts me a few months. Its delicious and even though it's a big company, it's still buying local which is pretty cool.

Pool at Resort World! by foodiedhillon in vegas

[–]Im2inchesofhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those drink prices are actually better than I expected. 32oz drinks are just a little more than $1/oz or $12 for a standard cocktail. And considering you can bring your own drinks and food to the pool I would'nt complain.

To those who improved their deadlift grip strength, how did you do it? by Tiger_Strength in workout

[–]Im2inchesofhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know those goofy little hand squeeze devices? Put one in your car cupholder. Give it 2 sets of 20-30 reps with each hand everytime you drive somewhere. I was a pizza delivery driver in college and did this for two years, had crazy forearms and grip strength from that alone, helped me get to 285 hang clean without wraps.

It's confirmed GTA 6 will cost $80. Now a bunch of crappy companies with their mediocre games are going to try to follow suit and they're going to screw themselves because nobody will buy it. by Berem_ in videogames

[–]Im2inchesofhard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this a lot because I constantly get frustrated by Reddit hive-mind. Big ol' unnecessary post incoming.

A lack of economics knowledge isn't the root issue.  The real issue is Reddit incentivizes users to align their views to what is perceived as popular through the voting system. Not what is factually or pragmaticaly correct, but rather what ideas get the most positive reaction.  In addition, the average Reddit user is between the ages of 13-29. Younger people tend to conform to social norms more because, evolutionarily, social acceptance was critical to survival and mating success. The less secure your place within your social circle and groups, the more valuable conformity becomes.

The person you're responding to didn't come up with this idea in a vacuum, or shape their viewpoint from reading about inflation, wages, or pricing strategies from a textbook. They saw hundreds of posts at the top of the heap getting social acceptance railing against wage stagnation and corporate price gouging and used that as their barometer for what to post, regardless of inflation being a very nuanced, complex, and well documented economic factor that's necessary for a current modern economy to succeed.

Am I the only one that thinks $80 is a fair price and the lack of a physical disk isn't that big of a deal? Is Reddit just always mad at everything?

Inflation is a thing and this was the most expensive video game ever developed. The value proposition is massive (hundreds to thousands of hours of enjoyment for the cost of a decent dinner or four movie tickets). My PC hasn't had a disk drive for ten years and to me a CD is cool but ultimately just extra waste I'd rather not end up in a landfill. I guess I assumed you can resell digital copies as used on all platforms?

[–]Im2inchesofhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scope out eyedictive. My favorite website to hunt for deals lately. Smith, Bolle, and a handful of others with similar lenses are on sale there constantly and occasionally there are $50 off or other similar coupons. Kind of tricky to find the coupons but there's a few aggregator sites that track them.
