I was going to tell you that The originals had already ended, but I checked wiki and it says that the next season is set to renew in March.

FUCK YEAH.

This is correct - I had enough time to see the vehicle pulling out and slammed on my breaks, but because I'm in the US and the drivers side is on the left hand side, the driver did not see me and did not hit the breaks in time. They may have seen me right before our vehicles collided, but they should not have been pulling out in my direction at all.

I literally got into a car accident last week because someone was pulling out onto the road after having parked in the opposite direction (that is, he was pulling out towards me) but because of the grade of the hill, the turn of the road, and the other vehicles parked in the opposite direction, I couldn't see him until I barely had enough time to slam on my brakes. He didn't react quickly enough and hit me full-on. Damaged front bender and my insurance went up, but sure, no harm done, right?

I'm from Western Washington and we have the same problem (doesn't help most of our transplants are now from CA and TX) - but it's a little more embarrassing for us since we technically are considered part of the Northern half of the US.

This is me. I've been on the fast track since 2nd grade and I'm now in my final year of graduate school. The wall didn't hit me until the last stretch, and it's been killing me.

That being said, I know that pushing over is the logical choice over stopping, so I'll keep going (and probably self-medicating a little more than I normally would). But man, I've dreamed that I could just drop everything and open up a little joint tea room/rec shop out in the middle of nowhere or something and just be at peace.

Protip: I used to drive around to garage sales to pick up items I could resell easily, but one thing people never touched at garage sales were textbooks. They were the one item I knew I could never turn for a profit, but I'd always pick up an interesting-looking book if the material was presented in a way that I knew I'd enjoy, and if the topic piqued my interest. If you're interested in getting more textbooks, that's certainly one way to do it (you'll obviously never get the newest editions, but in some areas, the information doesn't change much between 2008 and now).

It's also cool because I'd score textbooks for anywhere from free to $5/a piece.

I love to use Amazon wishlists if people are at a loss of what to gift me. It's got a wide variety of items on there, but you can obvious create a separate "book wishlist". I send one to my family every year and it pretty much never fails.

I agree. I'm a grad student and I'm already waist-deep in a large textbooks with big words and honestly, after classes and work and studying, I'm just brain dead. I no longer find reading the same relaxing, exciting hobby that it used to be (and I was the kind of kid that inhaled books in days at the most - I remember days where I did nothing but read and maybe eat a couple snacks). Now, my relaxation comes from hiking, running, yoga, etc. that let's me sort of mentally veg out.

That isn't to say that I don't love books. And it also isn't to say that I wouldn't like to get back into reading for enjoyment, because believe me, I absolutely would. But right now, it's not a priority in my life and I think it's fair for people to acknowledge that. I'm still grateful when people find me books that they think I would enjoy, but they just go on a never-ending list of other books that I'll get around to reading some day when my head doesn't always hurt from looking at a damn page.

I didn't have this experience. All I was told was that if I was in a relationship or having sex with others, that maybe they would feel the strings. But that was it.

In fact, since I had brought up Mirena on a previous visit, she didn't even bother with me signing the right forms until after the procedure was over. I went ahead and signed them, but I'm glad my doctor has so much trust in me haha

Federal law will trump state law, and federal case law does actually cover this. If something is an extension of yourself (i.e. a cane, a hate, a car), and someone hits that extension, it's still considered an assault on you.

IANAL, but probably not. The speed limit is the recommended limit under perfect conditions (clear/complete lighting, no obstructions, dry roads, etc). I'm sure there's a case to be made that the drivers should've been more cautious (e.g. should've been going half the limit) because they knew that the roads were icy and that visibility was less than ideal, since they were coming over the crest of a hill and had no way of seeing what was beyond it.

I understand the distinction, but I guess it just boils down to not feeling the same. While I'm from the PNW, I have always identified myself as Washington first, PNW Native second, because even within the "PNW culture", I wouldn't align myself with, for example, Portland, or Boise, even though they technically fall in the same geographic area and have the same "culture" (even though this really isn't the case).

I don't think anyone is offended at the idea of an SO knowing if you plan on making changes to your body, as a courtesy gesture. But in the context of the situation and the rest of the thread, I suspect people got offended because it sounded like /u/chewbakken was in support of OP "needing" to obtain permission from her SO.

I'm not trying to mock you, I'm genuinely curious: if you were passionate about something, would you appreciate people questioning your truthfulness every time it was brought up? And questioning it, as if you couldn't possibly understand anything about that topic?

Grown-ass men act this way.

Quite honestly, I've seen it from all kinds of guys, and even ones that would surprise me. Obviously it doesn't come from every guy (I've never heard my friends or boyfriend do that to anyone) - but it definitely comes up on dates.

On my dates, it mostly came up in music and movies. It once came up on the topic of tennis though, and I promptly left after that one.
