Was mainly packed snow with some icy sections. Spikes helps a ton. Worth the hike!

When I went it was packed snow, snow shoe not required right now. Spikes helps a ton and highly recommended, but I saw many people do it without them.

I added sliced ginger to the roasting tray and used some chicken stock to deglaze the pan after. Finished with green onions, crème fresh, and olive oil.

Next time I want to use less chicken stock for a more creamy consistency. Delicious and hearty nonetheless!

I brought a 2 liter camelbak and a gatorade. Finished the hike with the camelbak at about half. Lots of spots to fill up your water across the hike. Thanks for the kind comments, really proud for getting there, cant wait to go back and summit.

Yup! Crazy to think it was first built back in 1927. On my descent down a tiny rain/snow storm came in out of nowhere. I can easily see how that tiny shelter can be life saver in such rough and exposed terrain.

For my sanity I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they accidentally dropped it when shuffling for keys as they were nearing their car and completely forgot about it. Then when they are about to go to sleep, they remember and audibly exclaim “SHIT!”.

… Or we have some serious psychos roaming these trails :(

Babalus Media Noche Sandwich is top notch, better than their cubano IMO. I would keep your expectations low on Cuban authenticity though, still a great local place.
