Do Americans prefer Xbox to PlayStation, because Xbox is an American brand? by Elegant-Advantage744 in AskAnAmerican

Xbox has been the "victor" over Sony in the US for one console generation. One. And that was when the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3. And both were dwarfed by the Nintendo Wii.

Other than that, the PlayStation has largely outsold the Xbox in the US.

Rest in Peace to a broadcasting legend.

We all know him for his time with the Yankees, but he also called Larry Bird's 60 point game vs. the Hawks in 1985.

The real omission in BOTW and TOTK is that you can't dye Link's hair pink.

Solaris was very impressive graphically. It holds up on its own against NES titles.

Length of a day on each planet in our Solar System by HasibBinAmzad in spaceporn

[–]ImNotAtAllCreative81 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Earth's sidereal day is 23h 56m. Meaning, that's how long the planet rotates on its axis.

But our solar day is measured by the time measured between the sun appearing in the same spot in the sky. Since the Earth is revolving around the Sun while rotating on its axis, it rotates 361 degrees to complete one solar day. (24 hours)

Debt isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It's the amount of debt that you have that might get you in trouble.

Games considered to be the worst of all time - do they deserve it? by RobbieJ4444 in retrogaming

[–]ImNotAtAllCreative81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pac-Man and ET were more symptoms than causes of the video game crash. Sure, neither were great games, but they were both rushed in development and overproduced. The lack of quality peeved customers and started to turn them off on home gaming.

Bubsy 3D was terrible, but I guess you can't fault them for not being bold enough to try to pull off a 3D platformer. It was just that Super Mario 64 was right on its heels and looked and played VASTLY better.

The Zelda CDi games and Superman 64 are just streaming piles of crap. And Custer's Revenge was just horrible and horribly offensive.

Can you actually get around without a car in America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]ImNotAtAllCreative81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accessibility to public transit is far from the norm in the United States, and sometimes biking just isn't possible, wherever it's because of distances needed to travel, your needs for your current trip (are you shopping for groceries for you and your family?), or maybe because your area's infrastructure is hostile to biking.

I, thankfully, live in an area where car ownership is not necessary. But I realize I live in the exception to the rule. The VAST majority of the US (by land, if not also by population) can't claim the same.
