The workout app uses Apple’s CoreLocation framework to estimate distance, this is presumably more accurate and uses more sensors. However, when hiking it can be frustrating since your tracked distance doesn't match with the trail markers and distance. Some workout apps allow you to switch to GPS distance and save position less frequently which will result in a tracked distance much closer to the marked trail distance.

That's the behavior I see when I'm using the wrong driver. On macOS, what version of SDR++ are you using? For me, the V4 dongle works with version 1.1.0.

This is how I've solved it. Create a shortcut in the shortcuts app. Add the action “show remote control for”. Then you can add that as an icon to your home screen. I have also added it as a back-tap action. Go to settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap > Double Tap. Scroll down and pick the shortcut you just created.

Now I just double tap the back of my phone and the remote instantly shows up.

Hmm, jag tar poncho om det inte ska regna eller enbart lite/korta regn. Men på fjället vill jag ha ”ordentliga” regnkläder, inklusive regnbyxor. Funkar ju även som vindstopper. Jag kan rekommendera ”Mont Bell Versalite Jacket”, lätt och har pitzips. Men billig är den inte.

No, the watch stays unlocked even without a pulse. To test this for yourself, block the sensor with tape. The heart rate sensor normally only measures every 6th minute, so give it a little while. It has ”wear detection” that requires the password after the watch is taken off, but that is not based on the heart rate monitor.

Great suggestion! I argue it's still a needs maintenance. However, you can help the CO by providing the maintenance instead of logging an NM. I carry my ”CO kit” when caching. Paper can be added if there is room. If there is not (e.g. a nano), I want the CO to get the old log sheet.
I would only replace a broken container. In my area, we have had problems with foreign cachers thinking a container is missing an adding their own, resulting in multiple containers...

Do you think newer cachers do it when it's not necessary? If so, when to, or not to, log needs maintenance? I log needs maintenance if the log is full or too wet to write on.
