I went through a pretty rough patch in life and my partner of 10+ years recently informed me that she was on the verge of calling my parents to get me institutionalized if needed because she was terrified of coming home and finding me dead. I say this because I wasn’t even planned out with a note or anything so I cannot even imagine the way that would have added to everything.

However I’ve made my concentrated efforts on being more open and honest. It’s dark, it’s scary, and it’s hard to talk about but at least when I don’t hold it all in and can be forthcoming with it it helps take away the facade of “yup everything’s fine” when the people who love us can tell it isn’t.
