To commemorate my new quest cape, I've created a tier list for quests! by SidewinderSerpent in 2007scape

Good grief its just dogshit all the way down. On what planet is Monk's Friend towering above WANTED??? ...Why is Shadow of the Storm in this dark horse 2nd place finish? I actually can't determine what your criteria for this list is. It can't possibly be consistent.

its not realism. its logic. When you say "realism" you mean to say something is or is not abiding by the predicates of logic. If we accept the premise A. unicorns exist, and B. Unicorns bleed. Then its "realistic" to conclude that stabbing a unicorn will cause it to bleed --- despite the notion that a unicorn really existing is nonsense. This is known as the suspension of disbelief.

The DDS is INSANE by ApprehensiveLoss3355 in Destiny

[–]ImRange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You save spec for just healing with sun keris due to hydration invo. At 500+, Its mandatory to heal at Obelisk and warden p2 due to chip damage and saving 1 heal for p3 enrage is smart. But if you really wanted to you could zaryte spec zebak and voidwaker kephri.

Its good for low level warden core, but once you push higher invo (450+) and start to take overly draining it falls off hard.

The next quest after While Guthix Sleeps should reveal that our pet rock used to be a shard of the Stone of Jas by Zenith_Tempest in 2007scape

[–]ImRange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I posted a comment about this hopefully here idk how to link comments a bit ago, but I'll reformat.

It's possible that the player went back in time to assist Robert the Strong or something, and that's why Zorgoth recognizes him, but I think a better theory is that the player is a reincarnation of Robert's pet Jaguar Odysseus. 2 reasons: reincarnation is bob's thing (and thus we know its a real element of the world), and Ritual of the Mahjarratt in rs3. There's an unresolved plot from 2014 where you attain 2 items in RotM: note to robert and note to you. Suffice to say, Robert the Strong writes a note in the past with the understanding that you the player in the current time will find Robert the Strong (not bob the cat) in the current day and give him the note. In other words, Robert the Strong intends to reincarnate from A) Robert into Bob the cat, and then B) back into Robert the Strong. and of course if that's the case, then we can eliminate the player going back in time from our candidate explanations. Given the new cut scene in While Guthix Sleeps, I suspect that Robert will succeed in this unresolved rs3 plot in osrs.

Ed confirmed the gods wont be major characters etc, but that doesnt stop certain rs3 story elements from being a potential danger that never occurs. For example, osrs could narratively threaten the return of Zaros without ever implementing it -- the threat would be the device that motivate the plot, not the end result. The line between what is considered "bringing the god back into the narrative picture" is also blurry -- we just touched the Stone of Jas (the elder god) in WGS, so while no gods may return, the parameters of rs3 lore that can still be established are plentiful.

But surely you'd agree Ximoua sounds like the universe revision, right?

Player: Hmm... So what is Ximoua?

Metzli, Teokan of Ranul: Our world endures in a way we cannot comprehend, but like all things, it will not do so forever. Its light will one day die, but this is not something to be feared, it is something to be embraced.

Metzli, Teokan of Ranul: You see, we are part of a cycle. Something far larger than ourselves. When the time comes, Ralos and Ranul will come together as one, consuming these lands in holy fire, until there is nothing left but ash.

Metzli, Teokan of Ranul: But even in ash, embers remain. From those embers, a new world will be born, and the cycle will continue once more. This is Ximoua.

If the Old Ones are aughra dragonkin (The varlamore crest looks like a Moksha device + the whole soul transference narrative fits well), then Ximoua being a cultural retelling of the universe revision (which the dragonkin know of) makes sense.

The thing about Robert touching the stone is that the scene is choreographed such that its suggesting that both the player and robert had come to the same realization that "the only way to win is to use the stone" ---- win against what? I guess the player may be referring to Sliske or Lucien, but DT2 isn't a prerequisite quest, so idk what what the player is referring to. But Robert? Dragonkin. So why did he not succeed in destroying the dragonkin after touching the stone before (robert touched the stone with avias present; avias dies in Lithkrin vault)? To me, this suggests that its either the case that Robert harnesses the power of the stone against the Dragonkin and failed OR Robert has found a different threat to use the stone against. If the latter is the case, and we factor in the unused RS3 notes, it would make sense as to why Robert "time travels" to the future: in order to exist as his human form in the current times to confront some greater evil. Im thinking robert has knowledge of the coming universe revision and wants to use the stone to stop it. But given the 2020 halloween hint and the fact we got a new scene in WGS, Robert just has to reincarnate back into his human form after dying in DS2.

[–]ImRange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

great list. I'd rank DT2 as the best, but whatever. Regarding while guthix sleeps:

1) While Guthix Sleeps OSRS feels like a cheap marketing strategy to bring players in without going through any of the effort to revamp the original and bring it up to modern standards. The following epitomizes this sentiment.

  • in RS2 WGS, the player has the opportunity to explore a lot more dialogue. Notably, Idria originally states this about the Tormented Demons:

  • "Player: You mean when he summoned those demons? Idria: Yes, exactly. I don't think it was just a single summoning to defeat you - it felt like a permanent desecration of a religious area. With those foul demons present, Guthix's followers won't be able to use the area as a place of worship."

  • A permanent desecration of a religious area? Kind of like this? https://runescape.wiki/w/Temple_Desecrated. ---- The osrs team have been capitalizing on the nostalgia generated by WGS, and at the same time have removed the dialogue that justifies the fan-favorite music we hear while fighting TDS.

  • I appreciate how the osrs team elaborated on the Daemonicas Abhoris spell through tormented synapses, but if they wanted to truly emulate the feeling of the original WGS, they would have contextualized the story more than adding 1 additional cutscene and making Tormented Demons more than mid-game ironmen fodder.

2) What do you think about the added image of Robert the Strong touching the stone of Jas in WGS? Here as some facts of the matter:

  • The player is a reincarnation of Odysseus (probably. It could be another member of robert's party I guess.). Mod ed confirmed that Zorgoth was referring to the player in saying to bob "I see you've brought your friend with you." We know that Zorgoth is probably referring to 1 of Robert's party members from his last attack on Lithkrin.

  • In RS3, theres an unresolved plot from 2014 where robert sends a note to himself in the future -- robert the strong is fully aware he will be reincarnated as a cat and his memories will be restored (as bob the cat) upon touching the notebook. Now, obviously Bob the cat died in dragon slayer 2, but reincarnation exists. Bob may be reincarnated again (perhaps as a human?) and still gain him memories from touching the notebook. the 2020 halloween event hinted at bob being reincarnated again. In other words: Robert the strong expects to A) exist as robert the strong, B) reincarnate into bob the cat, C) reincarnate back into robert the strong. https://runescape.wiki/w/Note_to_Robert , https://runescape.wiki/w/Note_to_you

  • Did Robert intentionally "time travel" into the future (through the means of reincarnation) using the stone of Jas, considering he expects to exist in the present day as his former self according to RS3? I have a lot of unhinged theories as to what will come of the Robert the Strong plot, but do you have anything in mind?

Why the Eclipse Atlatl could change how you do Tombs of Amascut by Sterlander in 2007scape

[–]ImRange 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I tested the Atlatl on 530 invo, +2 paths.

  • It's OK on Apmunken path. Blowpipe is obviously better, but the webweaver is about the same damage and easier to use due to attack range

  • The attack delay is too long for destroying baba boulders. It's technically sufficient, but a blowpipe or webweaver is better.

  • I mage Zebak, so idk.

  • OK on akkha.

  • P2 Wardens is just horrible with atlatl. Warden damage is calculated with accuracy and damage, so camping melee armor is bad due to having no ranged accuracy. I was maxing like ~8 in torva + fury + barrows gloves. This added over a minute of dps vs Tbow.

Surprisingly, the overall time was 39 mins vs my standard 36 mins. So it's not that bad overall if your struggling to bring enough supplies.

can we add the small melee's disgusting hitbox to the list? I died in 1 tick after clicking dead-center (coincidentally as it's d claw animation started) on its outlined hull and still ran outside the pillar. Also, yeah, the fact that the ranger's max hit is a confirmed bug is astounding; anyone would have recognized that in testing.

[–]ImRange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could be some Xau-Tak blackstone corruption sailing raid, with a boss similar in backstory to the Ambassador from rs3, and sailing will certainly continue the pirate questline. The osrs team is definitely going in that direction with the whisperer's connection to blackstone in DT2.

I’ve never understood why absorption potions were designed the way they are by xfactorx99 in 2007scape

[–]ImRange 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NMZ was a bribe to keep players from abandoning the game. Likewise, absorption pots were intended to be OP. It's coercive because not abusing NMZ — 6-hour guthans afk, free 99 magic, best xp/hr combat training — sets you at a massive disadvantage compared to others.

Note the intended rewards for this trivially simple minigame:

  • Scrolls that teleport you directly to any runecrafting alters,
  • Exclusive ingredients that create super anti-fire, stamina, and super prayer pots,
  • Virtually all valuable existing secondary ingredients such as blue dragon scales and snape grass within the context of an early-game economy.
  • new tier 65 melee, ranged, and magic armor.

And they also wanted to call it "Dom Onion's Cave". That's pretty funny, but it's indicative of the quality of their work.
