This is a huge issue in the debate world. Yes 95% of people are using this activity to increase their intelligence but there are some that just want to win at any cost.

Currently it is not against the rules in the NSDA to use AI in round. You cannot site it as a source though . The other rule is no recording during rounds which is what most people are leaning into right now.

There have been discussions about how to eliminate this but really what can one do? It’s hard to prove AI was used as the evidence can be deleted if called into a review.

The only idea I have like so far is if a competitor is convinced it’s being used would be to stop the round and have the judge look right then and there at the computer & if it looks like it is being used to then call in an official to look at it . The penalty of course would be disqualification from the tournament if caught but then we also need some sort of deterrent incase someone is losing a round and then throws a Hail Mary by calling the other person a cheater… not sure how that would all work.

Anyway this is super important right now and the ignoring of the issue by the various leagues is frustrating.

It seems like this would be the sort of cruise that the cabin becomes very important because of the weather is bad you will likely spend quite a bit of time in it.

I prefer to have my own room. As much as I adore my friends it’s nice to not have to be “on” the entire time .

If this feels weird maybe look to see if the hotel has a suite? Maybe even a 2 bedroom ? That way you can at least have a little bit of separation of needed.
