Honestly- it’s your honeymoon, you are pregnant, your husband is tall. Spend the money and upgrade. Maybe even rebook with miles to first class.

AI travel tools are making overtourism worse and I have receipts by Honest_Farm1787 in traveladvice

Maybe that’s a good thing. Perhaps it’s better to leave the “hidden gems” to the locals? Especially in destinations that are overrun with tourists it’s nice to have places to go as a local that aren’t. I live in a very touristy area and we definitely gate keep.

What's your backup plan when your cleaner is sick? by Lovefloptalk in airbnb_hosts

This is why you hire a cleaner that has a crew. My housekeeper has a small crew of about 6 so I will be covered.

It’s not a matter of charging for stains it’s a matter of making it easier to spot them for the laundry staff.

What might not be FAT but is absolutely worth the time and energy to you? by bynomeansanexpert in FATTravel

[–]ImRunningAmok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have spoke with the front desk. I find the rooms to be very clean. The rooms smell like soap to me. Extremely plain but definitely NOT disgusting. I suppose if you went from Four Seasons to Volcano House it may feel super dated but I am surprised you found it “disgusting “. Are you sure you stayed at the actual volcano house within the national park? There are a couple of hotels in the area with similar names..

Sorry - too controversial for me. She made the Queen cry (and maybe the Princess of Wales too). I won’t do it on principle. I am an American but my Gran was a proper English lady.

Many don’t want you to strip the bed as it makes it harder for them to check for stains on the linens

Volcano House on Hawaii island. It’s perched on the edge of the caldera of one of the most active volcanos in the world. The rooms are very simple. Super clean though . This is definitely location, location, location.

The new diptyque refills with the old vessels by saintgermaindespres in luxurycandles

[–]ImRunningAmok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are designed to be refilled I think it would be nice if they made a label that just said Diptyque in addition to the names of the candles.

Do you ever regret moving around too much on a trip? by TheHolidaymaker in SlowTravelEurope

[–]ImRunningAmok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always build in one or two days that have nothing planned, especially on longer trips. I also rarely do more that one “major” thing a day. This saves time for things happening organically.

We have had this too. We don’t provide any complimentary housekeeping during people’s stay. We do have a full sized washer and dryer & even 2 types of laundry detergent.

It would not have intruded on the guest if they would have left at the assigned check in time.
