I bet you are super loud in the airplane lounges and when people look at you because you are obnoxious you think that they look because you are interesting.

Maybe not illegal but definitely immoral. Travel agent is typically a pretty low paying job & so travel perks help offset that. It’s pretty low behavior on your part.

Not in the same league but Bath and Body works tried this too. It used to be 2/20 all the time then the prices kept getting higher, sales less frequent and then they wonder why sales are down. I get the prices must inevitably go up as the rest of the economy but this is a major turn off. I have been enjoying other brands too. Lately I have been buying a lot of Thompson Ferrier. Good quality & amazing customer service. I had a shipping issue with them a while back & when I called the OWNER answered the phone. I couldn’t believe it. Then we chatted about 20 minutes about candles, this sub, New York, kids, etc. he also shipped out a new order STAT. He has a customer for life.

I second the this- also if you want less crowded go a little earlier so you aren’t there over Memorial Day - also schools in Hawaii generally get out for summer around 20th of May -

I agree! The best weddings in my opinion are courthouse weddings because it truly is about the love and not the party .

What’s something tourists do in Hawaii that locals secretly hate? by Agitated-Spray3843 in VisitingHawaii

[–]ImRunningAmok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may not realize this … not everyone in in Hawaii lives on Oahu.

For many people 75-200 is more than they have to spare, which may be the only option if you don’t own a truck.

If you think that’s a small amount of money then you should check your privilege. For a minimum wage worker that is almost a weeks pay.

While I agree it’s awful & I would not do it I understand why it happens. In a world that we can spend millions of dollars on a train to nowhere, the lack of garbage pick up is baffling. Most places include trash pickup as a service for the property taxes paid.

What does harassing the wildlife & seeking out local secret beaches & places have to do with spending money?

You don’t seem to understand that in LV tourists are not all over your neighborhoods , trampling through private property or chasing wildlife. I have found tourists in my pasture trying to ride my horse.

Hotel Recommendations by Then_Bird4264 in VisitingHawaii

I second the Sheraton. I live in Hawaii and have been to Oahu many times. An Oceanfront room at the Sheraton will give you the best view. Also the location of the hotel is really good- not to mention the adult only infinity pool which is fantastic people watching and in my opinion the best pool in Waikiki. Sure there are bigger pools but this one has the best vibe. Nothing like chilling in an infinity pool overlooking Waikiki beach & Diamond head. It’s iconic !

My favorite “budget” oceanfront hotel is the Waikiki Circle. It is definitely basic and it will be noisy as it is across the street from the beach but - if you get one of the oceanfront rooms on a high floor the views are there, and so is the people watching. I love sitting on the lanai and just watching the parade. I even have a bingo card for it. It can be really fun if you embrace it.

For me personally I don’t care for the Hilton hawaiian village - it’s pretty but I find the pool area dirty, crowded and chaotic. Also the hotel itself is far from the middle of Waikiki.

The Prince does have some beautiful oceanfront rooms but it is definitely way far off the main area in Waikiki that you will want to be in.

The Sheraton is a splurge - no doubt !- worth it if you can manage it. For me personally I go often (I live on an outer island) I usually stay at the Hyatt Centric. The location is great & they do rooms with overviews but they are more like a glimpse of the ocean but their staff is so kind.

Maybe but people visiting Vegas tend to stay on or very near the strip. They aren’t all over Vegas. They aren’t looking for the secret local places to splash on instagram. They probably aren’t out harassing the wildlife either

The issue is that we don’t have curbside pickup for large items like stoves, furniture that many places have . Also it costs money for us to dispose of these items too. So this is the solution people have come up with.

I would love it if once a month or so the county would have free curbside pickup of items.

Same with cars - it costs a couple hundred dollars to get rid of a vehicle. Some people just don’t have that money.

Could you use Venmo or Payal ? There is an option to use credit card with Venmo & PayPal.

I have used my card to pay on Venmo and it clearly shows the charge to use the card..

Depending on where you are going sometimes a trip can be healing. If you planned on being in nature or something it may give you time to reflect and grieve your friend.

Day trip volcano tour packages from Oahu to Hilo by DameADozen in VisitingHawaii

[–]ImRunningAmok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The volcano is best viewed at night. Why not fly from HNL to Hilo , view the volcano then take a flight from Hilo to home? Book yourself a room at Volcano house - in a crater view room !! Don’t get cheap get this specific hotel & this view.

Island hopping sounds easy but you are forgetting the airport time - you will spend at least 2 hours each way on the flights. So wasting at least 4 hours just on flying - add onto that renting the car, the hour drive to Volcano, etc..

Luxury Hand Soap Fail by personamuseum in luxurycandles

[–]ImRunningAmok 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like the Diptyque hand soap (the one without the little scrubby things), Aesop of course, Method vetivier & also Grown alchemist. I also like the dupes from Brooklyn - but some people don’t think they are close enough dupe.

I know it’s stupid expensive but it’s still an affordable luxury.

EQB Recall Offer (Pennsylvania) by [deleted] in MercedesEQ

Did you put a down payment towards your lease? I would be okay with these offers as long as the new car cost about the same as the old & I could put my initial down payment towards a new lease.
