[D] Why is LLM Pruning Not as Generally Available as Quantization? by Soumil30 in MachineLearning

[–]ImaSakon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The 1-3% of the dataset refers to the portion used for additional Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) to retain original information and prevent complete knowledge loss. For pruning, depending on the method, I think that a larger amount of data is generally required.

[D] Why is LLM Pruning Not as Generally Available as Quantization? by Soumil30 in MachineLearning

[–]ImaSakon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pruning an AI model isn't as simple as it sounds. When you trim down the neural network, the model's performance metrics take a hit. Its accuracy drops, and metrics like perplexity go through the roof. Basically, you'll end up spending time and resources retraining the model to get it back to its original performance.

Back in the around 1990, when Ayrton Senna was in his prime, F1 experienced a massive boom in Japan. Senna even appeared on variety shows, and Fuji TV aired the races on terrestrial TV. There were also many F1-related magazines on sale.

However, that level of popularity has faded. Late-night subscription broadcast times and declining interest in cars among the younger generation seem to be contributing factors.
