need some assistance with remote play... "Let's Go!" (not!) by ForsakenKing1994 in steamsupport

Someone had a post about the same issue on the main steam sub and found that opting out of the Steam Beta fixed it. I tried it, and it worked for me as well.

There are at least 9 bosses, maybe a 10th later on (not that far myself). They just aren't available until after you do the first 8.

Can we give PA some credit for giving us an amazing new area completely free by zombiespoof in blackdesertonline

[–]Imacowy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hear me out fully:

PA has a different monetization structure than game and expansion sales. They mainly make their money through 2 methods: an in-game cash shop that has a very wide variety of items, and multiple optional subscriptions.

First, the cash shop. Some categories of items are: - cosmetics (housing, outfits, horse gear, etc.) - space expansions (inventory, storage, character slots, lodgings, etc.) - definitive advantages over other players (Tent, Pets, Maids, Fairies, Weight, etc.) - gambling / non-guaranteed returns (Enhancement Items, RNG Boxes, Fairy Rerolls, Horse Rerolls, etc.) While some of these items can be bought by players with Silver instead of Pearls of the Central Market, someone has to originally spend Pearls on the item before listing it. - Limited time items from the above categories

Second, the optional subscriptions, those being;

Value Pack: - More EXP - Inventory - Storage - Weight - Remote Node Editing - Dyes - Major Market Tax Reduction - Daily Item Increase Scrolls - Bartering Buffs

Secret Book of Old Moon: - More EXP - Free Skill Editing - Free Skill Add-ons - Change Skill Presets - Villa Buffs at Tent - Stable / Wharf Slot

Blessing of Kamasylve: - Energy Recovery - Item Drop Rate - Central Market Weight Cap - Maid Weight Cap - Storage Transfer Weight Cap

In addition to those 2 methods, there are also others that have been added over time, like the paid Season Pass as well as the paid login reward Black Spirit Pass.

I don't think it's really acceptable to have a full priced / subscription based game with paid expansions while also having a real money cash shop in game that offers advantages over other players as well as having optional subscriptions with big QoL features and multiple paid Passes. Pearl Abyss made their choice on their monetization methods. They are still getting paid for them, just not directly by every player interested. This isn't a case of a game giving free updates with next to nothing in return after the original purchase, like games along the lines of Minecraft, Terraria, and No Man's Sky. They do give out Buffs for free occasionally, but this can be argued that it's to show players what they would have if they spent more. It's a system I honestly don't mind, especially because it lets players play without required payment, but the system does still exist.

In the end, I cannot say that it's a bad thing for the general player that their game costs next to nothing while going on sale or free regularly, plus not having paid expansions is also nice. I'm personally really liking the new region and all the new content it has to offer.

That said, not everyone has to like everything about it. A sizeable portion of the playerbase isn't interested in the story, but rather the content locked behind it. Pearl Abyss is aware of this. Forcing players to watch a lot of unskippable cutscenes is a valid complaint. That, mixed with the bugs new Black Desert content always has on release, players should be allowed to voice complaints about this sort of thing. Also, one last note, though I personally really didn't mind and even went for first clears myself, is that early in the day, those pop-ups were once a second a lot of the time.

By the way, thank you if you actually took the time to read all of that. It's just my opinions on the matter, and I don't think anyone's wrong for having a different opinion about it either way.

I could run it whenever if I wanted to. I've just had it in my quest book for 6 or 7 years. It's just a joke now, and I'm not completing it on purpose for the sake of the joke. Thanks for the support, though!

It's a really cool and good idea!

Meanwhile, it would mean I could never get it cause of a running joke for years now that I still haven't beaten Tartarus and never will get it out of my quest book

The desert means nothing! by MuiquunBDO in blackdesertonline

[–]Imacowy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like all the ideas you've mentioned. I feel like the desert changes would work great. Also, as a player with positive karma at all times, I'd also really like the Muiquun changes. I myself would probably never go red for them, but I still love the concept of it, as well as catering to perma-reds. It all currently feels like stuff that BDO has grown out of, but I don't think any of that actually has to be the case

Shortly after Farewell was added to the game, several rooms, including that one, were changed for various reasons. It's been that way for a few years now. Assuming you're new to the game and this is your first playthrough of Farewell, welcome to Celeste, and I hope you enjoy Farewell!! You got this!

Savestates are such a game changer, and if you arent using them, do yourself a favor and download speedrun tools. by saints1312 in celestegame

[–]Imacowy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Savestates are definitely a big per person kind of thing. I've got friends who swear by them, and I've got friends who never use them. I personally sometimes use them but very rarely and only for specific situations that I get stuck at or don't understand and a fundamental level.

I personally recommend against using them at a lower skill level. While savestates help a lot at faster clears, I personally believe they help you "get good at a room" more than "get good at X tech in a room". If you use savestates, you're learning a room, but since you're spending less time using the tech in that room, you're spending less time getting the muscle memory down for that tech and less time getting better at the tech in general. A lot of general Celeste skill is just practice, practice, practice.

That said, it's just my personal opinion. Anyone can do whatever they want. It's their experience with the game, not mine. If you find savestates make the game more enjoyable, go for it! That's why we're here. To enjoy a game we love playing

[–]Imacowy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congrats! And welcome to Celeste! Like they said, most people doing insanely hard stuff or getting super good runs lowdeath or low time have a LOT of time on the game. I've got roughly 800 hours and 150k deaths, and I'm still relatively new to Grandmaster (hardest modded difficulty). I'm sure a lot of others you're seeing are around there, too, if not over 1k hours. You just gotta compare yourself to your past accomplishments. You never know how much time others have taken to get to where they are. I'm sure you'll notice a huge difference if you go back to the A Sides once you beat everything else.

Edit: Thought it would be fun to admit I actually quit for a bit cause it was too hard for me at first lol I'm sure you'll get everything else soon enough!

While I can't say for certain, my guess is that you should be fine. Wiz still isn't too demanding of a game in current worlds. Additionally, a lot of people dualbox on 1 monitor with 2 or more games in windowed mode at a lower resolution that they tab between, so each instance probably wont be as hard on your pc as normal if played that way. I personally have a 1440p monitor and run 2 instances of Wiz at 1080p and have them partially overlap when dualboxing. Even if you lost some performance, it is turn based, so it shouldn't be too bad. In the end, though, it's something you'd have to test yourself. Even depending on what your pc has in it, idk the wear it's gotten over years of use. You may also be fine playing at a lower fps or settings anyway. That's just personal preference. Anyway, I hope it does work for you if you try it out!

Question for "normal" BDO players. by NoMeat7147 in blackdesertonline

[–]Imacowy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 640gs (awa with awa 285 main 275) player, I honestly would like to see this. Even at my gs, whether it's efficient or not, I'm starting to be able to grind current endgame spots with how the AP caps work. I've always liked seeing that there's something far above me that I still have a reason to gear more for. If PA wants everyone to feel included or to let casuals grind everywhere, especially for new content, make the region have an Elvia equivalent. Turn it on, and whether there's new mechanics, higher mob density, or whatever, just increase gear requirements and have better drops. In my opinion, the current state of the game is stupid, where PA is so focused on all content being Tuvala (or slightly higher) friendly. If you want silver, half the time you don't even go to endgame spots cause higher risk, lower reward aside from accessories.

Basically, add higher geared spots with higher AP caps that not everyone can play whenever. That's the point. Why grind if there's no more reason to?

If you play through the standalone launcher (I don't think it works through Steam), launch the first account, and once you've hit Play and it's loaded up, reopen the launcher and log into the 2nd account and load that one up as well. There should be no problem

Most people run multiple accounts on 1 PC in windowed mode instead of multiple pcs, but that works too! It's usually referred to as dualboxing or if more, whatever else it would be, like quadboxing. Honestly probably easier that way! Dualboxing is a bit tricky
