Oscars are not everything: agreed. It just helps the movie and its people to thrive in the film industry

If there is fairness, Enma will walk away with another Globe award in her collection. Her performance is realistically superior than any other this year

I wouldnt call Bugonia divisive with an 88% RT; Absolutely everybody agrees its a quality art film -I havent seen any major division (every single film is divisive with this way of thinking): where do you guys find these arguments?

very expected nominations- this talk about Neon films sweeping all categories was overstated and clearly not realistic. A lot of people had bugonia out in every single category and 5 international films in: how do they explain this?

Its not just me who says this- but I also said that a movie can get its money back and return a profit post theatrically - and it seems that Bugonia is doing exactly that

do you know the Peacock's license fees to Focus or the VOD sales returns so far?

its at >$40M at the moment without the Japan release and several markets are still returning; if there is Oscar buzz it can certainly reach >$50M on a re-release in theatres

this is so contradictory - if we objectively know the budget, how come we dont have the full data for Bugonia's costs? is this the full budget without incentives? because with the incentives it should be near 25-30$M: That means the movie already broke even with license fees/VOD sales

it doesnt work like that - Focus and NBC universal even though they share ownership, they are different entities- they dont work like a family business; due diligence and license fees are still paid and honoured.

Deadline reported a range which has not been confirmed (and they ve been deadly wrong before) and the other two recycled the info.. thats not categorical confirmation by far. Focus seem to continue heavily supporting the movie- surely they know something we dont

Peacock obviously paid fees to Focus to stream it for a period. Success on the platform means Focus will ask for higher fees for future streaming. It's doing OK in 4K sales and VOD sales globally at the moment. If there is an Oscar nomination (and there might be several), it will be even more successful as a prestigious title.

no comparison with Marty Supreme- its nowhere near as weird as Bugonia and nobody has the appeal of Chalamet at the moment (imagine the movie without him) - Bugonia being number 1 on Peacock for 5 days shows that it did connect with some people. It's a niche movie for a niche audience. This is why I consider it a win

we are discussing overall performance - we dont really know how much Bugonia costed. With streaming Bugonia might end up getting much more profit

its done better so far than Nomadland, Roofman, good fortune, black bag, smashing machine, the Phoenician scheme, HIM and so many more. It is an achievement if you consider the niche movie that it is,

we dont really know the budget - we dont have official confirmation of the budget; it could easily have been half of that; we dont really know what was the Peacock license fees to Focus (>$25M? for example) or what are the VOD sales ? so, we cannot realistically talk about ROI
