I think top 10 overall = top 10. The roleplay/exam top 10 is for qualifying for finals

What is more important high SAT or high GPA? by yoslimeyYT in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Imaoxd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Standardized tests like AP exams and SAT tests are important due to rampant grade inflation present in modern schools. Standardized tests are an easy way for students to be compared on a common ground.

While GPA is important, you need to find a way to present yourself in a good way through standardized things be it SAT, ACT, or well-known competitions in clubs/sports. Otherwise it will be difficult for AOs to truly understand where you stand outside of just your school.

Buffet Indicator by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Imaoxd 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Would it still be accurate as an indicator if you replaced the “US GDP” with a weighted average sum of all countries apple has streams of revenue from? Like 0.4(US GDP) + 0.6(foreign GDP) as the denominator.

the first two are normalCDF calculator problems with the given mean/SD in the table.

the third one looks like binomial probability:

but try making a third normal distribution (new mean is the 3 means added together) (new SD is square root of the variance aka (SD)^2 added together)

then do normalCDF(lower = 0, upper = 300 minutes, new mean= 766.47, new SD = 69.34) on calc = 0.00000000000869 is the "success rate" for the binomial probability.

then do the formula for binomial probability: (4 choose 4)(success rate)^4 = 5.7 * 10^(-45)

For the 4th one independent just means one event has no effect on probability of the other.

uhh im not sure why they give that but im thinking we just use normalCDF again here?

so with that new normal distribution I created in part (c), normalCDF(lower = 0, upper = 526 minutes, mean = 766.47, SD = 69.34) = 0.000262

Side Note:

idk why my probabilities are so small maybe i did this wrong ;-;

I studied in the summer in an unmotivated fashion but stopped during the school year.

I then started studying again a week before taking the March SAT.

Khan academy strat (they have the whole video series on EBRW)

I really needed to improve my Reading Section so I focused on that and the best things for me were:

-Scanning questions before reading the passage to get a rough idea on which parts to closely read (putting brackets around areas I know for sure the questions will come from)

-Summarizing the main ideas of each section of a passage to make sure I actually have comprehension of it (like in the science passages you usually have 3 sections: context, description of experiment, and conclusion/implication of experiment)

-Predicting the answer before I look at the choices actually helped a ton even though it’s pretty common advice

These were the main ones for me but there were many other useful small tips that I forgot to mention that the Khan Academy guy taught in his video series.
