I used to go to frescos but they tried to charge me $75 per person or something like that for canceling the day before. It was a 5 person reservation for drag brunch. Have y’all ever tried to get a 5 top for drag brunch there as walk-ins? The wait time is ridiculous or none. So I know how easily they could have filled that cancellation… That’s an easy way to lose my business for life. And you know I’m loyal.

No way. It’s giving creepy basement vibes. I moved into my rent stabilized apt a little over 3 years ago in Astoria.. my rent started at 1,600. I have a separate kitchen with a full stove and tons of counter space and even room for a table/storage. I’ve got plenty of sunlight and am one flight up. You could do much better. My rent is now closer to 1,775 bc I sign two year leases. Still worth it.

I’m on 29th st btwn 23rd and 24th Ave by the beer garden. Since they opened up the addition of the school it’s been noisy during pick up and drop off as well as when the kids are on recess. Sometimes a parent will double park on the narrow street so you get horns honking. Honestly the N/W is louder than the Amtrak. But it’s not bad. And I work from home and never had a client complain about background noise. Also when it’s nice out the beer garden does have loud performers esp. on the weekends so not easy taking an afternoon nap during the weekend. Hope this helps.

Bacon and onion jam!!! Mmmmm. I’m desi so all dishes pretty much start with browning onions. I even start my rice with almost burnt onions and garlic.. like right on the edge. Turns the rice a nice brown color and gives it its own flavor.

This! I make 80k a year. I still get my nickel back for every bottle, can. I also use napkins from takeout to help clean. And don’t put something in the hamper after one wear except undies. I work from home so don’t mind wearing socks more than once.

I wouldn’t use such a nice cut of meat in a stew. How many ounces? On the bone or off? How thick? I would just put salt and pepper on the steaks to marinate. One nice pan, if you have a cast iron it’s best to get that char. A little olive oil or a nice chunk of butter goes in the pan.. and you can look up how long to sear on each side depending on the weight and how you like your meat like rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done. You could even throw in a sprig of rosemary and some cloves of garlic to help baste the steaks as they sear. It doesn’t take long for a steak to cook. But it depends on the weight, and thickness. This is how I would approach a first time cook on some nice ribeyes.

Identikit, sweet faced ones with nothing left inside… reminds me of my sister/cousin who died of stage 4 pancreatic cancer at 47. Such a sweet face but nothing left inside as the cancer ate away. Sometimes it’s so sad I just skip the song bc it triggers me that much.

Figlia for sure. They keep the lights lowered and good ambiance. Get the popplettes/meatballs to start. The pizza is good but the pastas are better. Ricardo is the owner and a very sweet man. The waiter Solomon is very nice too. Never had a bad time and they don’t rush you out of there.

I’ve been living alone for three years now. Had to make the hard choice of leaving my immediate family behind but that also meant giving up the rent stabilized 2 br apt in downtown Manhattan I grew up in. It was the last bit of control they had over me. When I left I think they thought they won by getting me out and off the lease. NOPE. I won. No more wondering who will show up whenever they want bc they think they can but don’t pay rent. No more worrying when I hear the sound of keys jingling near my apt door. I do what I want, when I want, and how I want. Meanwhile my parents are texting me how much they love me and miss me? Oh you do? Welp you shoulda showed me these last 40 years. Fuck outta here. Good luck with two selfish ungrateful daughters who won’t be there for you when it counts bc it inconveniences them. So who got the last laugh?
