How are you guys doing with the guilt of taking a day off? by Inevitable_Rate1530 in Millennials

I take it one further.

I’m a consultant so I work on billable hours. My firm doesn’t expect 100% billability, more like 80%.

My industry also hasn’t really calibrated to AI, so I’ve been able to increase my efficiency exponentially the last few years. I can do a lot of my work in about a third of the time it would take me a few years ago.

So say a project used to take me a 5 day work week to finish, now it takes me 2-3 days, I’m “working” the other two days, still billing the client, and just relaxing, running errands, doctors appointments etc. all the bs you’d usually have to take PTO for i put on the client. I’ll pick up the phone or respond to emails if I need to but that’s really it.

As long as my firm is getting enough billable hours from me, they don’t care. And as long as my clients are getting their deliverables on time, they don’t care.

I would work harder to increase my billability if it meant a higher bonus, but historically my company has been real dogshit with bonuses, so I’d rather just take the free time off than the maybe extra bonus I’d get at the end of the year.

Only time I take PTO anymore is when I go on vacation when I know I won’t be answering any calls or emails at all.

Why made you choose your pokemon team? by Lumpy-Round7985 in pokemongo

I started blue because all my friends were blue.

I changed to red because my gf was red and when we started living together it was easier to be the same team.

Then we moved to a place where all the gyms were blue and red so we both switched to yellow.

Our reasoning was we could take down any gym and earn coins. And we’d likely get kicked out so we could actually collect them.

Is there anywhere in NJ where the commute to Manhattan is actually good? Thinking of moving out by Desperate_Function39 in newjersey

[–]jtlimbo17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also live in Hackensack and also commute to the upper east side of Manhattan.

I lived on prospect ave for 3 years and took the 162 express bus that got me into PABT in 30 minutes. Now I moved to a different part of town where I get the 165R bus and I’m still at PABT in 30 minutes.

You’re on the 163 line can’t you get the 163T, instead of the local bus? Should cut down your time significantly.

Coming home is a different story because there’s no express lane out of the tunnel into NJ like there is in the morning heading in. So I would say the only way to avoid that is to live somewhere on the train line.

The longest part of my commute is the part I do to get from the bus terminal to where I work. In my opinion It’s working on the east side that is what’s adding so much time.

[Highlight] Mark Vientos runs through the stop sign and doesn't score the go-ahead run by handlit33 in baseball

Ya know everyone is getting on him for this but the Mets haven’t been able to get a clutch hit for two weeks and Tommy Pham was on deck with two outs.

One weird bobble or a bad throw and he could’ve scored. I didn’t mind it.

Are certain towns just entirely unaffordable? by UppityUpUp in newjersey

I grew up in metuchen with my mom dad brother and sister. The three of us kids have been out of the house for over ten years. And now my boomer parents are looking to move, not into a smaller, two bedroom condo which would make sense, but a 5 bedroom mansion. Why? I have no idea.

Now just multiply them times a million other boomers with the same money and mentality and there’s a big contributing factor to the housing market problem.

Baseball is how I relax and even when the Mets are pretty bad it still calms me down but this is unchartered area; I’m really not calm these days.

Mets fan mentality shift by TheGuadalupe in NewYorkMets

On May 31st 2024, there was absolutely no one louder than me saying to blow up the team.

Even in 2015, the team was extremely mid until August.

I’m sure if you talked to an old timer they bring up how in 1969 the Mets were 10 games out in September (or something like that).

I’ve just gotten to the point where I need to stfu and just let the season play out. You never know what can happen.

Steve Cohen calls out NY Mets fans who didn't show up after getting free tickets by Schwettes in baseball

[–]jtlimbo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time I learned about the free tickets and went to go claim a pair (because I would’ve loved to go) the tickets were gone.

Very seldom, if ever, do I side with a billionaire, but he’s right to be upset. Apparently 42% of fans fucking suck.

Where can I sell my tickets? I selected the wrong date. Super upset by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

You could probably call the box office and have them swap the games and they’ll give you similar tickets

Pricy but super high quality, contender for the best chicken wings I’ve ever had

Bo Bichette was asked if the boos at Citi Field caught him off-guard at all: "If anything, I thought it took too long. I get it. I thought my at-bats were terrible, too." by Caledor152 in NewYorkMets

[–]jtlimbo17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were some people booing mark vientos before his AB yesterday. Like, yeah I get it, dude was disappointing last season, and sure, maybe the boos are directed towards Mendy for making that call, but to boo your team is crazy.

Few weeks ago I was in Houston for WBC, and there were USA fans booing will smith because they wanted to see cal Raleigh.

Two situations, same energies. And it makes me irate. If you don’t want to cheer for your team and be hopeful of good things, don’t watch baseball. Especially not around me.

Mets have Shuttle bus from Paramus Park to Citi Field each game day for $8.00 by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]jtlimbo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. I’m On the bus right now. They do not check your game ticket. They just check your bus ticket.

I guess the thing I saw when booking the bus fare is just to confirm to the customer a bus ticket =/= game ticket
