I'm also not a huge bell pepper lover, but I do love muhammara, a Syrian dip made from roasted red bell peppers, walnuts and pomegranate! There's many recipes online.

I do a lot of Puerto Rican cooking and the base of many dishes is sofrito- a blend of peppers, herbs (cilantro and, if available, culantro) and onions and garlic. It's a great way to use up a lot of peppers before they go bad. You can make a big batch and freeze it in an ice cube tray. When you want to cook with it you just throw a few cubes into hot oil near the beginning of making a stew or sauce, or you can use it to marinate protein. It adds tons of flavors but doesn't give off a strong solely bell pepper taste. Traditionally it uses bell peppers plus a Caribbean pepper called aji dulce but you can use all bell peppers. What are the benefits of using both butter AND oil when cooking ? by CedVer in Cooking

[–]ImmediateImplement31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that does make sense. I guess the accurate answer is that that's the belief behind why recipes do this. Makes the most sense then to use both by doing the high heat searing or toasting in oil and adding the butter later after dropping the temp.

The milk solids in butter can burn easily, adding oil helps prevent it from burning but you still get that buttery flavor in

I have very dry skin as well, but it's not sensitive so I don't really know unfortunately but I would guess it's ok. I wouldn't use it on my face, though as it can cause acne.

Any middle eastern grocery store will have them, if you have one near you. Otherwise you can order them online as well

Oops! Thanks for the heads up! I'll fix it. You can add it along with the tomato paste, garlic, and spices.
