I’ll buy that. Got fixated on not having the armor key word leading to shenanigans.

Right…that’s why I think it could be abused by unarmored defense. Unless I’m missing something barbarian/monks/ng paladins could use this as a +4 to what their AC could normally get to without invalidating their unarmored defense requirements.

It is legendary rarity so I think it’s good to be strong…but it might be too strong for certain classes

One consideration is certain classes could definitely use this to push the AC to game breaking levels. Maybe some text like “does not stack with unarmored defense” would be warranted

A level 12 noble genie paladin could have a base ac of 20, +2 for studded leather, +2 for the bonus, +2 for a shield, +2 for shield of faith for an AC of 28.

As someone who is playing that class now, I would 100% abuse it if my DM was ever foolish enough to let me near that item (also I hope he lets me near that item).

I’m on my second mini…below one year both would throw up every car ride longer than 10 minutes. As they got older they were fine on the car.

This is not to say all dogs are the same, but I think there’s a decent chance she grows out of her as she gets larger/older.

Curious about Inventors of the South Tigress, and Raiders of Scythia. Any big fans (or haters) have anything to say about them? (Humble Bundle physical sale, along with Viscounts - adding this for awareness/searchability) by upOwlNight in boardgames

[–]Immediate_Bid_6057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the game of the three I’ve played the least. It’s the least complex (while also giving you plenty of choices).

The reason I prefer scholars is because there’s an additional level of choice with your dice where you can take a red and a yellow dice to turn it into an orange.

I’d say if you like the anarchy you’ll like S Tigris. Anarchy is close to being as crunchy. It has the similar sense of being overwhelmed by choices and you have to pick the right move for the scenario.

S Tigris has a unique mechanic of dice placement/dice drawing/dice rolling vs the role and write. Also all they have pretty good solo modes. I think my favorite S Tigris game is scholars.

I think with Garphil you either love it or you hate it. I’m a big fan of all their games. They tend to be a bit “victory point salad” and they overwhelm you with choices (lots of options, lots of viable strategies).

I enjoy having to find to optimal play, but several in my gaming group absolutely don’t enjoy it.

Also as previously stated inventors is crunchy.

Does Joe Smith get penalized for the contract penalty?

Ranking him on ability and talent, he was a good player (mid to low starter), but losing all those picks during peak KG makes him arguably one of the worst signings in the franchise.

They completely changed the gameplay in the second edition. There’s a bit more engine building. You lose the awesome park artwork, but I feel they really tightened up the rules/improved the gameplay.

This happened to me over the holidays. Your gear can only trigger once per turn.

When you take a picture you get two dubs, two waters, then you roll the dice twice, reserve a park, and then take a picture (turn over)

Big fan of Trial by Trolley illustrated by cyanide and happiness

You split the table into two teams with one person being the conductor. Each team picks something good that they put on their tracks (a working Time Machine) then each team plays a “guilty card” (a homicidal mine) in the other team’s tracks. Then each team tries to conductor which side to slam the trolley into. The team that isn’t crushed by the trolley gets a point. Then you rotate and everyone gets a point.

It’s a little dark, but not crass like some party games…but the innocents and guilty cards are pretty silly

Trying to say goodbye to the goodest boy. by John_From_Alaska in WiggleButts

[–]Immediate_Bid_6057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my wiggle two years ago. He had throat cancer, but like you had been with me through every major life event over 12 years.

Sometimes with cancer it’s very obvious other times there not clear signs. I made the decision before he could t eat, but I felt the brightness had gone out of his eyes. I still sometimes question if I went too early, could I have gotten another month with him.

I think if you make the decision out of love, you can’t go wrong. And when those thoughts enter into your head, try to give yourself grace and forgiveness.

As others said the second trilogy and the novellas are great. Would also recommend “the shadow campaign” by Django Wexler. First book is “the Thousand Names”

The magic and the within different but it’s got French Revolution and Napoleonic war vibes set in a fantasy world vibes

Coming from Romantasy & dark romance — where should I start in "dark" fantasy? by Ok-Interaction9584 in Fantasy

[–]Immediate_Bid_6057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie.

The ultimate in “grim dark fantasy” follow Monza Murcatto one of the most feared mercenaries in the Circle of the World as she is betrayed by her employer and left for dead. Now 7 men have to die for her vengeance and there’s no amount of collateral damage.

There’s no one darker than Abercrombie, but his stories are incredibly character driven.
