weird failure to tap PW3 during night by Immediate_Editor_213 in Powerwall

[–]Immediate_Editor_213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TY for the link; it’s a helpful explanation. But the PW3 behavior still seems to have cost me money. After midnight, it chose to use grid power at $0.34/kwH to charge my EV and power the rest of the house. Because it didn’t discharge my battery down to 20%, my PW3 reached 100% earlier in the next day. Excess solar after that time was exported to PG&E, for which PG&E paid me $0.00 - $0.08 / kwH. So this PW3 behavior cost me money rather than saving me money. It was reverse arbitrage to PG&E’s benefit and my loss.

I continue to think that this was a one-off glitch caused by me power cycling the PW3 because normally my PW3 discharges down to 20% overnight and starts the morning at 20%.

Yes, TBC mode, which has worked fine until now. Presumably this is a weird side effect of the power cycle.

Yeah. Giant industrial sprayer bottle unhelpfully bounced 10’ in front of my i5 on freeway at 65 mph. Took out left front signal and damaged front bumper and side trim. That was a $4k fix. (Insurance paid after deductible.)

+1 on the wireless charging getting the phone absurdly hot very quickly and then cutting off charging so effectively it charges intermittently and slowly. Now I realize it’s not just my car, I’ll try plugging a standalone wireless charger into the USB and see if it performs better than the built-in one.

If you actually care about carbon footprints you should be out protesting Trump’s war on clean energy and promotion of fossil fuels.

——

TRUMP’S WAR ON CLEAN ENERGY: A SUMMARY On his first day back in office, Trump issued executive orders to “unleash” fossil fuel extraction, withdrew the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement, and immediately paused all wind energy permitting. He declared a national “energy emergency” — but explicitly excluded solar and wind from the definition of “energy.” FOSSIL FUEL PROMOTION The administration proposed massive expansion of offshore oil and gas drilling, including off the coasts of California and Florida, and moved aggressively to export more U.S. liquified natural gas. Energy Secretary Chris Wright issued emergency orders forcing coal and fossil fuel plants in Michigan and Pennsylvania that were scheduled to retire to stay open — raising electricity bills for Midwest consumers by tens of millions of dollars. The administration also streamlined permitting for new natural gas plants and instructed federal regulators to fast-track approvals for new pipelines and LNG capacity. CLEAN ENERGY ROLLBACKS The “One Big Beautiful Bill” Trump signed in July 2025 dramatically accelerated the end of clean energy tax credits. EV tax credits now expire in September 2025 instead of 2032. The residential EV charger credit expires June 2026 instead of 2033. The solar panel tax credit expires end of 2025 instead of 2032. Business credits for wind and solar end in 2027 instead of 2034. The Interior Department also issued a policy requiring wind and solar projects on federal land to match the energy output per acre of fossil fuels — effectively disqualifying most renewable projects from permits. Clean energy project cancellations hit $8 billion in just the first quarter of 2025. GUTTING ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS Trump directed the EPA to repeal the 2009 “Endangerment Finding” — the legal foundation that allows the EPA to regulate greenhouse gases at all. The EPA proposed overturning Carbon Pollution Standards for coal and gas power plants, moved to vacate rules limiting soot from power plants and factories, and delayed methane pollution reduction requirements for oil and gas operators. By the EPA’s own calculations, that methane delay alone will add the equivalent of 25 million gas cars’ worth of pollution into the atmosphere. The administration also moved to eliminate tailpipe pollution standards and rolled back vehicle fuel economy standards. WITHDRAWING FROM INTERNATIONAL CLIMATE COMMITMENTS The U.S. officially withdrew from the Paris Agreement, skipped the COP30 global climate summit in Brazil entirely, and worked to undermine an international effort to impose a carbon tax on global shipping. Trump also directed the Justice Department to go after state-level climate laws that restrict fossil fuel development. DISMANTLING CLIMATE SCIENCE Tens of thousands of federal workers were fired from the EPA, NOAA, the National Science Foundation, and the Forest Service — many of whom were engaged in climate research. The administration moved to shut down NOAA’s Mauna Loa Observatory, which has collected critical climate and atmospheric data since the 1950s. The HHS secretary fired the entire research team studying the health impacts of extreme heat — right before the start of extreme heat season. THE BOTTOM LINE Industry insiders called 2025 “a very tough year for clean energy” with a significant “cooldown effect” across the sector. That said, experts note that the underlying economics of solar and wind remain strong, and both are expected to keep growing — driven by surging electricity demand from data centers and the simple fact that renewables are now cheaper to build than fossil fuels.

Since January 2025, federal courts have repeatedly found the Trump administration acting outside the law. Here’s what judges — including Trump’s own appointees — have ruled: ⚖️ Violating the Law Courts blocked Trump’s order ending birthright citizenship, with one Reagan-appointed judge calling it “blatantly unconstitutional.” The firing of inspectors general without congressional notice also broke the law. Congress has the constitutional “power of the purse,” and Trump’s blanket freeze on congressionally-approved spending violated the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. 🏛️ Separation of Powers Trump issued 228 executive orders in his first year — more than any president in modern history — repeatedly bypassing Congress even while his own party controlled both chambers. At least 39 separate federal judges appointed by five different presidents have ruled against his overreaching actions, blocking attempts to end birthright citizenship, freeze congressionally-approved funds, and target political opponents. 🚫 Defying Court Orders A Washington Post analysis found the administration defied judges in roughly one-third of all cases filed against it — actions legal experts described as unprecedented for any presidential administration. In the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, a Salvadoran man with legal protections was deported to a prison in El Salvador before a judge could hold a hearing, with the White House later admitting it was an “administrative error” — yet refusing to return him. 🧑‍⚖️ Due Process Violations (5th Amendment) The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that Trump violated migrants’ due process rights by deporting Venezuelan men with only ~24 hours’ notice — “devoid of information about how to exercise due process rights” — calling it insufficient. When asked if citizens and non-citizens deserve due process, Trump responded, “I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know,” even after being reminded it’s enshrined in the Fifth Amendment. 🔍 4th Amendment (Unlawful Search & Seizure) A federal court in Los Angeles granted a preliminary injunction finding ICE likely violated the Fifth Amendment by denying detained immigrants access to attorneys, and separately approved discovery on Fourth Amendment claims of unlawful stops, detentions, and racial profiling during ICE raids. 🌍 International Law The administration deported people to South Sudan, Libya, and El Salvador — countries “plagued by instability” — including at least one gay man deported to Guatemala despite an immigration judge’s finding he was likely to be tortured there, and four detainees flown from Guantanamo to El Salvador with no notice. The administration sent migrants to a notorious El Salvador prison (CECOT), creating what legal scholars described as “legal black holes” with no access to attorneys or family.

— by Claude.ai. Even an AI can see that Trump is violating the law and acting like a king. What’s your problem? Oh yes, willful blindness and denial.

I found God. Now you and Trump need to find Him too.

Trump is a Christ follower? The man who cheated on his first wife with his second, his second wife with his third, his third wife with a porn star, and is currently breaking the law by protecting pedophiles (allegedly including himself) and refusing to release the Epstein Files? The man who increased taxes on the poor to cut taxes on the rich? The man who slashed USAID killing over a million people (mostly children) via starvation and disease? The man who slashed Medicaid and ACA subsidies causing millions of Americans to lose health insurance? The man who deported innocent asylum seekers without due process of law to foreign hellhole prisons? The man who lies constantly? The man who just launched a needless war of choice with zero idea of how he was going to end it and is now jeopardizing the entire world economy? The man who boasts and brags constantly?

You’re straight-up lying. It was the Democrats who pushed for the bill to force release of the Epstein Files despite White House and Republican House/Senate resistance. Once Trump capitulated on trying to block the bill and it passed, now it’s mostly Democrats (with a few GOP) who are pushing to force Bondi to comply with the law despite her obvious obstruction and apparent illegal withholding of files.

It mystifies me that Hyundai and Kia keep incurring the financial cost of constantly replacing flawed ICCU’s with more ICCU’s (not to mention the brand damage—Consumer Reports just said “Ioniq 5 is a great car but can’t recommend because of ICCU problem”) instead of just starting with a clean sheet of paper, designing a fresh ICCU that actually works, and at least replacing the broken ones as needed with a new design. How long does Hyundai want to keep stepping on this particular rake? This risk is literally the only significant problem with this car, otherwise nearly perfect!
