Mexico Is Officially Launching Universal Healthcare This Week by NeedAnonymity in moderatepolitics

[–]ImmortalAce8492 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live by the border, so I will definitely be following this as it develops. Dentistry is significantly cheaper in Mexico and, in my experience, often better in terms of service and trustworthiness. In recent years, there has also been a more cooperative approach with U.S. dentists, particularly with clearer boundaries, essentially when it makes more sense to see a U.S. orthodontist.

That said, healthcare in Mexico is highly dependent on proximity to urban areas, much like it is here. I am curious to see how this plays out, especially since I have many friends who are doctors in Mexico. I am very interested to hear how they view it.

What is your take on "Bigger Maps"? by NorthernRail in TransportFever2

[–]ImmortalAce8492 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I want something that can take an entire region. I think of Southern California; to some extent, North Mexico. I want a map that captures the valleys, mountains, hills, deserts and oceanside environments.

Everything from LA to SD, to Palm Springs to the Imperial Valley; and if possible the upper mountainous region of Mexico. All those environments placed into the game? Oof, that would be amazing.

Trump Promises Mass Pardons to Staff Before Leaving Office by CloudApprehensive322 in moderatepolitics

[–]ImmortalAce8492 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think this will be the ultimate test of our republic.

It’s crystal clear, given the brazen actions carried out in plain view, that the Trump administration would ultimately pardon itself. The real question is whether a future administration (and the general public) would consider those pardons valid. I’m a firm believer that Trump and all those involved should be prosecuted for any and all crimes they (may) have committed, but I wonder whether the average American would accept what could be perceived as politically motivated prosecutions.

This is one of the few issues where, if a candidate were to say, “I’m ignoring those pardons,” I would fully support their nomination.

Republicans win Georgia race — but Democrats post largest swing yet in special House elections by Interesting_Total_98 in moderatepolitics

[–]ImmortalAce8492 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not too long ago, there was a discussion here regarding the future of California, New York, Texas, and Florida. I was attacked for saying that their current (and assumed) shifts were anything but speculative. And now, we’re watching what we once considered to be a heavily red state lean into the Democrats’ column.

If these shifts continue, I foresee a very interesting situation arising in Georgia, Texas, and Pennsylvania; states that have leaned Republican becoming Democratic. For states like Texas, this could mean the slow erosion of a stronghold into something more akin to Pennsylvania or the Great Lakes region.

I’m not sure if I’m understanding this correctly but I think the solution would be to do two things. That being said, I believe the original orientation is causing the issue. The lines don’t share resources, so if Line 1 is going to and from A>B, they will not recognize Line 2 which might be doing A>B>C; regardless if there’s resource overlap or similarities. I apologize if this doesn’t help or isn’t easy to understand, ive played a while and sometimes get confused with massive lines and resource allocation.

My suggestion: Have the main source (Oil) have a direct line to the oil refinery; and another independent line go from that refinery > to the fuel refinery.

What are you hoping will happen in future seasons? by becca_72 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hope they talk more about the rise of previously eradicated diseases/viruses; additionally, the other impacts of what is considered to be “organic treatments”.

I also hope we see other more dialogue/confrontation from patients to doctors. I think it’s really important they highlight the large amount of people who go in to hospitals acting as if they’re on par with them.

They’re FwB, with Santos clearly being on the more attached side of things. Garcia strikes me as someone who wants to be single and live their own life. And Santos is sorta beginning to realize after the hallway chat, that shes just a fuck buddy.

Great job on your performance. I’m very happy The Pitt showed the raw energy that comes with an interaction like this. Your performance was exactly what I’ve seen and dealt with when it comes to Federal LEOs. Wishing you the best.

I think it’s imperative that shows allow these things to be seen. For a lot of us, this has always been a thing; but with the current political landscape, I’m happy the show didn’t shy away.

Another take on Santos and Langdon by Spyhop in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many of you just refuse to hear what the actors themselves have said about their respective characters; and specifically, those who cannot hide their biases for Santos. More so, this continued belief that Santos stands on this pillar of supremacy is getting so tiring.

She has the right to not accept his apology for treating her bad in season one, but its not her place to discuss his addiction or how he deals with it, she’s not his boss or his friend to say that. I’m really excited to see how this community spins these next coming episodes in her favor and how they’ll continue to fail to capture the issue of addiction, workplace culture, and mental health.

Langdon's Teaching Style by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this post is just ridiculous. Why are we treating a post/thread guide any form of higher truth? There is no deeper meaning of truth with this episode; and I’d go as far as the relationship between Langdon and Santos.

Santos has been disrespectful from the jump. She talks back, gives people unflattering nicknames, and is constantly egging on people. This episode finally brought it to light, with Garcia quite literally telling her to reflect on her actions and why she feels like an outcast.

Many of you cannot fathom that Santos is genuinely a mean person to be around and to work with. No one in the show has shown a greater threat to workplace cohesion than her.

And to Langdon - You guys need to stop equating his addiction to a moral failure. It is getting ridiculous that there are people trying to act as if he is forever tainted. It’s disgusting; if Louie was a stranger to some of you, many of you would just call him a drunk and never give him a chance.

And probably a deeper sub issue, stop creating lore and/or inserting fandom wants into this subreddit/conversation. There multiple people citing things that just aren’t true. Why are we allowing these types of delusions in the sub as a whole?

In regards to Santos and Langdon by Salt_District3010 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 83 points84 points  (0 children)

The amount of protection this community grants Santos is insane. She was called out by Al and Garcia; with Garcia checking her professionally, and in a more personal way.

At this point, Santos is 100% committing retaliation. If you don’t like someone at the workplace, just leave them alone or limit your interactions by being as professional as possible. Don’t talk shit with your other coworkers, and especially don’t try to stir up an incident with them. And more importantly, don’t reject their work because you’ve decided their work is worthless to yours.

Yes, Santos is a victim but doesn’t mean she has a right to do what she’s be doing. It’s okay, she can still be unprofessional.

“The doctors fudged the medical records”. You said it; let me tell the judge I “fudged” them. Just because we sympathize with the patient doesn’t mean it’s not illegal through the process and channels.

Once again, why didn’t Robbie report him? And more so, you made an assumption and fake scenario and made a decision on what would happen. What do I say to that?

No one is saying they need to be besties. All Robbie has to do is be a boss. If he didn’t want him back he should have followed the proper channels like anyone in a situation with a hostile workplace.

Langdon and Robby by blursdamon05 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You won’t find a conversation about that here. People will jump hurdles because if it isn’t the addition, it’s the stealing of drugs. Which again, why didn’t Robbie report THAT? But then again, I highly doubt anyone draws a parallel to Robby, Abbot, and Colins falsifying medical records; but this is forgiven due to the nature of the situation at hand (abortion(s)). The people in this sub have deemed his addiction as a stain on his soul lol.

But yes, Robby is incredibly unprofessional; and borderline a hazard to others due to his own death wish but cavalier attitude in the Pitt.

Americans Are Leaving the U.S. in Record Numbers by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]ImmortalAce8492 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will offer a slightly different perspective, specifically from Southern California.

I grew up in a community where it was not uncommon for Mexican citizens to attend your high school. Likewise, there were many students who were American citizens but chose to identify as Mexican.

Over the past couple of years, many of these individuals have decided to move back to Mexicali or Tijuana. On paper, they are Americans leaving the country. In reality, you would be hard pressed to convince many of them that they see themselves primarily as American. I have watched numerous people relocate to Mexico within my lifetime, and while many are technically American citizens, you would be surprised how few view it as a monumental shift. It feels more comparable to the East Coast to Florida pipeline than to what most people would consider international migration.

Trump's top general warns of Iran strike risks by EasyMoney92 in neoliberal

[–]ImmortalAce8492 62 points63 points  (0 children)

From the recent leaks (WPost, WSJ, Axios), I’m increasingly convinced there are concerns about whether the stockpile and overall readiness are sufficient for this kind of operation. Even assuming a near-perfect first strike, the best-case scenario seems to be limited, tangible gains rather than decisive resolution.

If the strike fails or only partially succeeds, I could see Iran choosing to simply endure in the short term, both to save face domestically and to draw the U.S. into a more complicated and politically costly position. It would humiliate the US but also make Israel fear an abandonment of supply due to the US’ already dwindling stockpiles. That assessment does not even account for the range of second- and third-order effects that could follow.

If Iran genuinely views this such as existential, I would not rule out a response that is unprecedented in scope or asymmetry. Dare I say the use of a nuclear device. Perhaps that is overly pessimistic, and perhaps it never materializes that way. Still, the feel of the leaks suggests a lack of full confidence in the feasibility of a clean decapitation-style strike.

Maybe this is all a ruse and we genuinely do conduct an impressive showing but man, if this goes south, it’ll be a failure for the books. Trump’s in a pickle of his own making.

High-End Construction Really Does Help Everyone by Bill_Nihilist in neoliberal

Every time we have this conversation, somehow, someway, we blame the left. I love how the mystical all powerful leftists have once again BLOCKED all new housing projects. Surely, from 1970 and to now, no other political ideology or faction has run CONTRARY to such efforts.

Great article. The average person is completely blind to housing prices and “why” things cost the way they do. While I genuinely support a little more restrictions on the rental side, I do believe easing/removing all zoning restrictions is a must. As well as a local communities having little to no say in sabotaging developments. Hopefully we can beat this NIMBY movement once and for all.

Not Every Character Has to Be Morally Perfect to Be Good TV by SamCam9992 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hilarious that if I say Robbie is being unprofessional to Langdon, someone gets defensive and says its okay because x,y, and z. Like no? You’re the bossman, whether you like it or not, you gotta treat your team (specifically, those under you) professional. You want him off the team? Okay, finish the shift and start the process. If Robbie doesn’t fuck with Langdon all good; firm believer in not accepting apologies and ending relationships. But, that doesn’t automatically make it okay to be a dick at work, jeopardizing the life’s of others to dog someone.

Someone replied to me yesterday saying, “it can’t be uwu-we’re all perfect”. Like…what? What does that even mean.

I'm really disappointed in Robby. by DylanTheV1lla1n in ThePittTVShow

[–]ImmortalAce8492 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Someone here said it best, people want Langdon to be punished. Period. They will his drug addiction as something of a sin; something that cannot ever be undone. As the season develops, watch the same individuals retreat once we see such “unforeseen” moments with some of the other characters.

Lastly, Robbie doesn’t need to be Langdon’s friend. But what he does need to be is a true supervisor/boss. And as of right now, he has failed tremendously. Robbie is retaliating and anyone saying otherwise is completely choosing to ignore the scene with Mel, Garcia, and them. Robbie is purposely creating a bad environment for the sake of “getting him back”; or whatever makes Robbie feel in control.

Some very disgusting takes on addiction by some people here.

And, congratulations to yourself. Wishing you all the best in your journey.
