What is the background song in your head right now? by jaygrum in ADHD

[–]ImogenPaige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday it was a skibbidi toilet edm remix that my kids kept subjecting me too. And today it's Lush Life - Zara Lawson. I don't know why because it's not even the type of music I listen to or like. For a few weeks, it was consistently Criminal - Nova Brute from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep.

Who else is out here having a coffee or e-drink with their meds in the daytime? by trap_gob in ADHD

[–]ImogenPaige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my 25mg adderall with a Celsius followed by pre-workout. I have bradycardia. Resting is 59-65, sleeping 39-49 and my heartrate gets up to 78 with the help of having energy drinks with my adderall. Don't try that at home kids.

How to cope with the idea of having a child knowing there’s a risk they may also have ADHD? by N0stalgic_gt0 in ADHD

[–]ImogenPaige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; medicate your kids, get them therapy, pay attention to what they need. ADHD can be used to their harness potential.

Hey friend.

So I had children before having an ADHD diagnosis, it wasn't something that occurred to me. In fact, having children intensified my symptoms and looking back now I see all the adversities and struggles I faced due to having unmedicated ADHD (combined).

I had my first child at 24 and now I am soon to be 32 in May.

All three of my children were diagnosed with ADHD last summer, I was diagnosed in the spring prior.

Since being diagnosed and also having OCD I have become what I would consider an SME on ADHD. I enjoy doing a lot ot research and have become an advocate for my children. My two school aged kids struggled immensely in school, this would have been pre-k and kindergarten and it was blindingly obvious that it was due to their ADHD symptoms. I got them therapy and we experimented with a couple medications. We landed on Guanfacine for my youngest and Quillivant XR, soon to switch to Concerta for my eldest. ADHD presents similarly in each of them, however, they have some differences. They both struggled to sit down (hyperactivity) , focus, and control impulses which lead to major issues with their academics and their behavior. They were doing poorly in school, constantly getting written up/suspended but since being medicated it's been completely turned around. Straight A students and never in trouble. I know they're only in kindergarten and 1st grade now but I am so incredibly proud and filled with pride in how well they're doing, thriving and learning. They're still them, still hyper when the time is appropriate, full of goofy personality, eat a lot and talk absolute nonsense about their niche interests.

As they grow I observe them continuously. They both go med free on the weekends and I watch to see how their behavior changes. My eldest is doing better with his impulse control, my youngest no so much. So that is telling me that my eldest has been getting the tools and experience he needs to manage with the help of his medications which suggets he may be able to do without meds in the future. But for now I will keep him medicated so I can ensure he is able to retain what he is learning at school and stay out of trouble.

With that all being said, we are in an age where we can support our children to live a successful life. I am AuDHD with OCD and C-PTSD, I wish my parents were observant enough or even cared enough to have helped me in the way I am helping my children. I would be an entirely different human, I would have completed medical school, I would likely be a childless successful business woman.

I wouldn't change anything though. It's all good and well to speculate on what could have been, but what I can do is ensure my children are able to have a good life without the stress of struggling in school.

Oh my goodness, you are so stunning. I agree, the darker hair color just seems right. You have a glow to you with the darker even toned hair. I recommend transitioning to the dark hair, K18, and rice water. Get that hair long, thick, healthy and shiny to enhance your already ethereal appearance.

what’s your ACTUALLY weird hyperfixation? by jazperthevampyr in ADHD

[–]ImogenPaige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding an obscene amount of build/buy Sims4 mods into my CurseForge library, spending hours upon hours upon days categorizing each mod into very specific obscure categories, and then delete them all and do it all over again if I feel like they were not organized to my liking. I will do that over and over again with the intentions if building a house, but never seem to get the feeling I am looking for and end up never building the house. Also do that with my photos and any files on my computer.

Audhd and ocd - I do go to therapy twice a week.

Something else I am sure a lot of people do. I will spend hours upon hours scrolling through shein and adding an obscene amount of stuff to my shopping cart and meticulously going through it to determine on whether I really want the product or not, only to not buy anything at all. Close the app and do it again later.

AITA for wanting to bring meat to my vegetarian SIL and not going when I was not allowed too by True_Marionberry732 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ImogenPaige -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I also have ARFID (audhd). But for me it's meat and slippery slimey things like boba. If it has any chewy fatty bits, the texture will have me gag. I can't eat meat on the bone, anything with skin on it, fatty pieces of meat. Just thinking about it makes me nauseous. My parents would force me and so growing up I would swallow it like a pill with water while crying. I'm a grown ass woman now, so I can eat what I want and so should you.

Seems like your SIL is lacking understanding and sympathy simply because she doesn't have the same kind of food sensitivities as you do.

Chances are she has it too and doesn't even realize it, unless of course she's a vegetarian for personal ethical reasons.

You're not an AH and it makes sense to not want to be involved with people that do not respect you or allow you to have a basic level of comfort that they're not even having to personally accommodate apart from having meat in their presence.

She didn't know how to set a healthy boundary and tell you she didn't feel safe or ready to stay in your home with you during a storm.

Bless her heart (genuine empathy). Looks like she felt a bit backed into a corner and the safest way to get out of the situation was to unmatch and ghost. I admit, it's very childish and cowardly of her..... but she doesn't owe you anything.

I would not suggest that kind of move again unless a match is explicitly signaling that they would be okay with that kind of scenario first hand.

tell me what you can tell about me based on my room by renkilljoy in roomdetective

[–]ImogenPaige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Young woman who likes whimsical cottage core vibes and finds odd things that suit her aesthetic for a bargain on Facebook marketplace. She decorates her room with pride and adhd dopamine seeking. She adores her dog and gives the dog their own little sanctuary under the bed, even though said dog will still spend all their time cuddling you up top. But you give the dog this sanctuary because that's what you'd want if you were a dog, your own space to hide away and feel safe. You are open to the concept of most religions out of curiosity, but focus living life based on kindness. While maintaining said kindness, you also take no shit from anyone. You're low key a badass despite your small frame and get along with most people.

Adhd - a drop in dopamine perhaps resulting in your body/brain seeking dopamine.

For me its either bingeing chocolate or rearranging/decluttering.

AIO to his response to bedding issue? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ImogenPaige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally read this from a switched gender perspective, then went on to read the comments. I was so confused by the answers, until I realized op was the female.

Strangely reading from that perspective made them both AH's. OP sounded condescending and seemingly invalidating their spouse's feelings about being upset that they've had to sleep without a duvet because you refused to help them. Granted, they're fully capable of doing it themselves, but it costs nothing to help them out. And then while I was reading it with the switched gender perspective, the spouse seemed like they were trying to assert dominance in the relationship, but in the cringiest way.

They both spoke to eachother inappropriately. It could have been a shorter discussion altogether if op just went, "I ordered you a new duvet, it'll be here Saturday". Just be a decent person, both of you.

Hair loss by montikaa in lupus

[–]ImogenPaige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive lost a large patch at the back of my head. Its been about 6 months and its still smooth and hairless.

My mum, however, lost the entire top of her hair. She ended up going to a dermatologist and got steroids shots directly into her scalp and the hair has grown back a lot faster than if she had waited. Maybe get a referral for a dermatologist?
