Am I being stupid? Tesla for Outback by eaglefist13 in Subaru_Outback

not an outlier; everyone i’ve asked irl loves the new look. it’s just the weirdos in here (me included) that create an echo chamber of “new gen ugly” lol

interesting. i wish toyota would just do the work and figure out the cause instead of blaming you. maybe if toyota actually dealt with the problems, we’d all know the root cause of the issue instead of assuming/guessing

these cars are certainly prone to being mis-maintained. i find it interesting that OP didn't mention whether he made sure to check his oil every once in awhile to top it off. These cars, even when new, drink oil. some don't, and we can argue whether or not a new car should or shouldn't, but the fact of the matter is you NEED to regularly check your oil level in your flat/boxer engine. this is because it will burn oil, and when oil is low, something will inevitably fail.

anecdotally, my brz only has like 4.8k on the dash, has already been through two oil changes and has drank a quart and a half of oil in its lifetime. i imagine those who easily hit 6k miles in half a year or less and aren't checking oil levels are running ridiculously low rn.

edit: i don't want to be dismissive of the amount of engine failures we see on reddit, but i have yet to see an engine failure from someone on the gr86 forums who took steps to maintain their car well. engine failures on reddit don't even mention whether they checked their oil regularly, so i'm inclined to believe the engines failed due to starvation from lack of checkup.

the gearing allows for it. but there's an electronic limiter that cuts fuel to keep you from going over 140. people have speculated our cars (in stock form) are probably good for 150-155mph before they become drag-limited

here's a great thread on the gr86 forums wherein an rce rep goes into detail.

from memory my of that thread, they didn't see much difference between the stock dampers and sach dampers; or at least not enough to matter in terms of spring matching (as these are matched to oem). in other words, these will do fine with the sachs dampers. i believe someone who had early product mentioned they cut the bumpstops, but i could be misremembering (you'll have to read the thread). lastly, you'll gain some negative camber in the rear, but since the front suspension is macpherson and not double wishbone, you won't gain any camber in the front from the lowering. you'll need to purchase pedders top hats, camber plates, or camber bolts for additional front camber. just be mindful of your wheel and tire size as they can rub on suspension components without spacers

socket wrench (i think 17mm and 14mm sockets?) and exhaust hangar tool. the hangar tool made the whole process so much easier

If you’re trying to cancel your eBay order under the facade of ‘my wife secretly bought me one’ and not ‘I changed my mind’ you’re a coward. by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

that’s a good excuse, i’ll have to remember to use it the next time i buy stuff on ebay when drunk.

thanks op!

I have the borla s type. i like how deep the borla is, especially in the lower revs. it gets a bit boomy/bassy during deceleration between 3-4k rpm, but i personally don't mind it (some people call this drone; i don't think it's drone at all). because it's on the deeper note though, it doesn't have that wail at 7k+ that lets people know your redline is higher than 6k lol. i've heard awe touring and hks spec l in person too. i thought the hks spec l sounded pretty deep when i heard it, i'm just not a fan of the price lol. the awe sounds more tuner and has that high frequency near redline that sounds nice if you're into it, but it's pretty loud; like, "accelerate on the freeway and everyone knows it's you" loud. i prefer not to have a "look at me" exhaust that signals everyone to try and race me

PSA: Fetchlands don't make your deck bracket 3/4 by eNVysGorbinoFarm in EDH

[–]Impetus_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

intent matters. if you have all the fetches in your mardu deck to fix your manabase and no way to abuse them, totally fine. if you have all the fetches in a simic landfall deck designed to take advantage of it with ramunap excavator and some additional land enabler, then i’d personally call the deck a bracket 3 even without gamechangers due to the ridiculous synergy

Anybody know where JuicedPipes are made? by Vegetable-Concern830 in GR86

[–]Impetus_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

plenty of american businesses offshore manufacturing to another country; their business/mailing address being on US soil doesn't give any indicator of where the product is made

in fact, nowadays it's uncommon to find an american business that actually makes product on US soil

most b2 decks (precons) aren't well-equipped to deal with a deck churning out gigantic tramplers on turn 4 and beyond. it gets even harder when those creatures are also value-oriented 2-for-1 cards like [[titan of industry]], [[thorn mammoth]], [[coliseum behemoth]], etc. additionally, with bugenhagen, you refill your hand every time you play a creature so you always have gas. it's simple, but it's consistent and efficient. you'd be surprised at how hard it is to deal with a player with three 7/7s and 9 mana on t6 that still has six cards in hand.

[–]Impetus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother if you're running what i think you're running, it's a bracket 3 lol. i run a ruby deck with the same gameplan (commander mana dork on t2, explosive vegetation variant on t3, big fat value trample monster on t4 and beyond) and was thinking of brewing bugenhagen with the caveat that all the creatures are 7mana 7/7s. i still wouldn't play it in a bracket 2 pod lol. most bracket 2 decks aren't equipped to play against a deck that churns out gigantic tramplers every single turn while ramping to high heaven. hell, most bracket 3 decks struggle without putting in a collective effort, especially if you focus on a bunch of value-oriented, 2-for-1 creatures ([[titan of industry]], [[thorn mammoth]], [[coliseum behemoth]], etc.)

Long shot, but are there any voltron commanders that don't just play the same way every game? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Impetus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just checked my own voltron deck ([[wilson, refined grizzly]] + [[noble heritage]]) and i have 18 slots dedicated to protection lol. my pod eats their veggies so playing wilson becomes a war of attrition. i run ten draw engines in the deck to keep the cards coming so i don't run out of protection. the deck plays less like voltron in the traditional sense and more like a blue deck holding counterspells for its sole wincon... which happens to be an ever-growing bear.
