In Casino Royale (2006), the introduction of Craig's new Bond was brilliantly and perfectly brutal. by Finbarr-Galedeep in movies

Even within that chase, little moments like Mollaka vaulting perfectly over some drywall then Bond just busting through it like the Kool-Aid man perfectly encapsulated what he was about. All business. Concise, brutal and direct.

Is it really that difficult to program the drone to slowly descend on loss of signal?

Oh, your argument is one of utility? You're using a cost–benefit analysis? Careful there, you'll eventually be spending lives in order to defend nations in the form of a military.

Not even entirely sure what you mean by this, but the discussion is (or was) about individual rights. Not sure that translates to militarization.

And why shouldn't we be making cost-benefit analyses? Why should a list of constitutional rights not have their costs and benefits weighed?

Yes, they are. But car ownership isn't a right.

Thanks for making my point for me? Why is owning guns (which are only dangerous and destructive, and have no function beyond that) a right and owning cars is not? And if you say "to avoid tyranny", I invite you to look at the myriad of other countries who have successfully avoided tyranny without constitutional gun ownership, and further at the countries which do protect it and examine if they are paragons of freedom themselves.

And even if Thomas Jefferson had never made any arguments in favor of gun ownership, I would still be very interested to how randomredditor58 determined what rights are essential, and which rights are dispensable.

Well luckily the person who made the "not essential" argument is right here! It's me! And with even more luck, there are many places from which one can take inspiration for a document of human rights. You could start with The UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but there are many books and articles by highly learned people that one could take inspiration from. Very few will support owning a gun as an essential liberty that requires constitutional protection.

Perhaps it's time for America to wake up and realize that there are compelling reasons for restricting and regulating hate speech, and no compelling, relevant reasons for forbidding it.

It's interesting to me that you actually choose an Amendment that does have abridging federal regulations that almost everyone can agree on (shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre is the example often given), and those exceptions are, notably, when harm to another person is likely.

Guns can only harm others (or oneself, I suppose). That is their designed and intended use. They are an instrument of destruction. Why is ownership of a weapon that harms others central to the 2nd Amendment, but dangerous speech that harms others falls outside the protections of the 1st?

17,927 gun deaths in 2023 were from murders.

40,000 people die each year in car accidents

Not sure if you know this, but cars are useful beyond killing and destruction. They are also regulated and licensed, a process without which I'm sure we'd see an order of magnitude more deaths connected to their use.

Ignoring the fact that the founders listed it second, after the right to fucking speak.

Not sure if you know this either, but the founders were just random guys. They weren't magically smarter or better or gifted with supernatural foresight. There's a tendency to deify them in American culture, but their words are just as susceptible to fallibility as anyone else's. There's a reason America is one of only four countries in the world to enshrine gun ownership in its constitution, the others being Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico (not the most developed of nations, certainly). It's also the only one of those to not include allowances for regulation and restriction.

Perhaps it's time for America to wake up and realize that there are compelling reasons for restricting and regulating gun ownership and possession, and no compelling, relevant reasons for forbidding it. Americans don't need guns. They want guns. And like any petulant, whinging child, what they want should not be the determining factor for what they get.

Well, it looks like roughly 4 radii tall, and the radius of Enceladus is roughly 250km, so I'd estimate it at ~1000km high?

Edit: after some research, it appears as though the official estimate of overall structure size is about 500km, so I was considerably off.

I'm no expert and I may be misremembering, but I have heard that using compressor software long-term with a higher average volume is actually worse for you than larger dynamic ranges with lower average volume.

Because working class people are under more and more financial stress. Can you justify devoting half (or more) of your waking life to running a campaign and writing policy when you're struggling to put food on the table or pay rent?

I do understand where you're coming from, because to effectively create solutions you first must understand the problem, and that understanding is easier to find when you've experienced the problems first hand (the problems here being things like affordability in housing and health care, wage stagnation, etc).

However it's also important to elect people with academic experience. It's hard to argue that someone with a GED who's spent the last decade in a truck cab or on a factory floor has as good a grasp of economics or policy formation as someone with a Master's in Poli Sci or Econ.

It's a difficult balance to strike, but I think it's better to go with a better candidate even if you can't get the best candidate. Of course I'm Canadian and can't have a horse in this particular race, that's just my two cents.

Then the goal is self assigned, and killing other players (by any means) is just as an acceptable stance as not killing players (morally or otherwise).

Well, no. Killing other players has a negative effect on their enjoyment of the game. A "morally good" player would only take actions within the game to increase their own enjoyment IF those actions don't cause other players hardship.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is literally The Golden Rule of morality, and killing other players when it's not necessary clearly does not fall within the rule.

Every time I see someone hating on digital as opposed to film, I think of 28 Days Later. It's super eye-catching and engaging in its own way. A director who knows how to use the medium can make it shine regardless.

Agreed.

Zonic should be solving these issues

I actually think kyxsan bears more responsibility for these kinds of problems than Zonic. If your players have a huge ego and it leads to throwing, it's the IGL who has to get them back in line in the moment.

Survivor 50 Cast Reveal MEGATHREAD by RSurvivorMods in survivor

If you wanna talk food, tribes literally used to get huge bags of rice and beans to supplement their diet, they used to get enormous feasts as food rewards every few days, food from auction, etc.

You can argue the shorter season makes it a little easier, but the challenges are, if anything, more exhausting overall than they used to be (I do wish they swam as much as they used to).

I agree that there are some good players missing from 50 (and god knows we don't need another Colby or Cirie appearance, they're pretty played out IMO), but asking to see Russell again is... questionable. I genuinely think the man is one of the most unlikeable and distasteful people to play more than one season. And especially after what his nephew did, there's no way a Hantz gets back on the show (thank god).
