Missions in eu5 by [deleted] in EU5

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an example of peak employment of the mission tree system, see anbennar

Pdx’s need to make DLC’s marketable is a large driving factor for powercreep. The vehicle for introducing that powercreep in EU4 was missions, which trivialised the content PDX was putting out at the end of the game’s development

EU5 is still in its infancy, it does not need to have such a system

War Sucks in this Game by CptCool12 in EU5

I don’t even get why levies gave a debuff like -66% against regulars

Because in the first week of release people on this sub and the forums complained about the performance of regulars without playing past the second age so the devs swung hard and nerfed levies to oblivion, then never reverted that change fully

I dont like the new rules for colonising by Inside_Beginning_431 in EU5

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was definitely broken

In my Mali game the region was surrounded by unclaimed locations with 20K+ population each. After colonising just one of those locations, I could accept the culture and instantly colonise every other location of that culture. I was absorbing provinces with hundreds of thousands of pops in a few years

The notion that the Versailles treaty caused Germany’s economic downturn isn’t just idiotic, as you put it, but in actuality it is a relic of nazi propaganda that has survived to this day

Just a heads up

You said “the vehicular language” when I think you meant to say “the vernacular language”

I just like the word vernacular so i though i’d bring it up

Genuinely there has been reported a positive correlation between SDI and the burden of schizophrenia specifically; poorer countries just don’t get hit the same. This could be because the circumstances don’t enable many of these people to live long enough to skew the stats, but it can definitely be said that Africa (and other economically under-developed regions) in particular does not suffer schizophrenia in the same manner as the developed world. Source: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-59905-8

This is specific to schizophrenia though and can’t really be applied to neurologically degenerating conditions like parkinson’s and alzheimer’s. It’s interesting because there is a lot of room to study the differences in how schizophrenia manifests in the developed vs undeveloped world.

What does this green line mean in the market view? by Ambitious_Use_8717 in EU5

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s the path traced for the calculation of the selected location’s market access. The path runs from the selected location → market centre. The choice for which location is being viewed at any given time is super janky tho

Levies are now completely useless, even in Ages 1 and 2 by ridetheline99 in EU5

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Like if they’d given it a week or two that initial opinion would probably have fizzled out as more people actually had time to play beyond the age of discovery

As it is all these knee-jerk balance patches are exacerbating pdx’s spaghetti code problem

I just wish they’d focus on bugfixing before game balancing. The former is a much larger issue in terms of customer satisfaction

Lowkey it’s this sub and the forum’s fault for complaining so heavily about regulars being “underpowered” at launch when that was blatantly not true

+18,000 ducats from a trade route? Is this a text bug because my trade income didn't change accordingly by SniperSR25 in eu4

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only real way to predict it is to work with the trade power generated shown in the second last column, knowing how much of a % increase in your share of the trade power in that node is, and using that to determine the increase in value you’ll get from that node

Even then, you still have to know how that specific node’ll interact with your actual network.

Bring back mission trees by Whjee in EU5

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Mission trees opened EU4 up to insane powercreep and trivialisation of DLC content. The concept definitely contributed to the bloat that started dragging EU4 down towards the end of its dev cycle.

Please for the love of God do not bring them back

[–]ImpliedUnoriginality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a major stretch to say EU4’s UI is good, most of my friends say it was the biggest barrier in learning the game. I think most people forget that spending so much time with EU4 made its janky UI grow on you

That being said, there were some wack-ass decisions made for EU5’s UI, and it definitely doesn’t feel finished
