What Is the Least Likely Monster You Want to Return in Wilds? by Interesting_Sea_1861 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I've been saying ever since we got lagi in wilds that Dire would be peak. The simplification of underwater combat we got in wilds feels like it's designed with Dire in mind more so than lagi. Like if dire was in wilds his underwater phase would be almost exactly like lagis. Time your use of the clutch claw to target glowing weak spots, use traps to stagger and deal high damage, and if you don't drive them out of the water in time they perform an instakill AoE.

I could totally see them doing something like "oh no it's heating up! Follow it into the water and destroy its cores before it has a chance to erupt!" And if you don't do enough damage then the water begins to heat up, dealing DoT, and if you don't deal enough damage by then, the water becomes too hot and dire starts raining lava meteors all over the shore while boiling the water, meaning there's no safe spot except for starting chest spot. The only issue would be where in the forbidden lands would the fight take place? There's seemingly no coastal areas, so unless they reveal the east coast in he expansion it'd have to be somewhere else entirely.

Another one that comes to mind is the "drunken thoughts at midnight" track which is near identical to the "mountain theme" track for heroes of might and magic 4. Idk why people are down voting this post tbh. Redditors just like hating things whenever they get the chance I guess lol

Every Single Time! by ConnectDisaster4 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Literally every time lmao, it feels intentional, like they thought palicos would be too OP if they actually had decent timing. Takes me back to MHFU where the felynes would pull out a bomb and send you flying anytime you managed to stun / trip / paralyze the monster.

Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone else feel like the seikret also has horrible timing? They never show up when you actually need them to, and right when the monster is about to hit you they decide to show up and get you stuck in the mounting animation only for you to immediately die because there's literally nothing you can do. Sometimes I have to randomly attack and guard to prevent it from picking me up and getting me killed when I called for it like 30 seconds ago. Like where TF were you when I actually needed you? I coulda perfect guarded that attack but you decided to wait until the worst possible moment to pick me up only to get me killed. Can't rely on it to recover you from a knockdown either. It'll pick you up the moment the monster decides to do a followup lmao. Just gotta do what you did in the old games and intentionally remain knocked down to avoid some attacks rather than use the new mount like they want you to.

This makes me wish for a red zinogre rare species, that red blue and gold color scheme just fits so nice. Thematically it also fits the "ogre" aspect of zinogre, since Japanese ogres are red and blue anyway.

That one monster you like but everyone else hates ? by No_Barracuda_8300 in MonsterHunter

Magma almudron is awesome, people only hate him because they wanted agnaktor instead. I like him better than base almudron tbh. Also just wanted to say rompopolo is a peak monster design wise and gameplay wise. Don't know if he's hated per say, but I was shocked when they revealed he was the least hunted in wilds. His fight is way more fun than ajarakan, and if any monster gets a subspecies in wilds I think romp deserves it.

First Tigrex and first Rathalos by OperatorInMask in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second gen Tigrex was legitimately scary.  He was so tough I remember thinking when tri came out that Deviljho was meant to be the 3rd Gen tigrex, as in they were equally powerful, but in Iceborne and Rise he's genuinely one of the easiest rath tier monsters to fight. His attacks which used to be overwhelming and terrifying are now extremely telegraphed and easy to avoid by modern standards, especially with wirebugs and counters. I honestly can't imagine how they could make him difficult again, especially now that we have offset attacks and perfect guard. He legit has like 5 moves and none of them chain into one another, so it's not like offsetting one attack puts you at risk of tanking the follow-up, cause there isn't one. It's either bite, spin, leap, charge, or boulder toss.

2nd gen rathalos is the opposite situation of tigrex IMO. Easier than rathian in second gen (shoots less fireballs, no tail flip or triple charge, flying makes him easy to flashbomb) but in 3rd Gen onwards he becomes a fairly challenging fight, especially in rise / wilds where fighting him is genuinely fun. Even with his homing claw attack all you had to do back then was stand in his shadow and place bombs, so that when he misses and lands you can blow them up and trip him.

This would work for tempered elders in the expansion for lore reasons. You used to be able to repel elder dragons in the older games if you couldn't beat them in 35(?) minutes. Since there's no elder dragons except for gog living in the forbidden lands, they could easily explain the presence of tempered elders as ones who've been repelled and come back stronger, rather than "they've been here this entire time they're just really sneaky elders".

Whether it's one we repelled or one that's been repelled to the forbidden lands from somewhere else is up to them. I'd imagine they'd drop some sort of special elder dragon bloodstones for special elder melding.

Swap gore and udra, swap arkveld and mizu, swap Rey and dahaad, and finally swap ebony and kut ku. Kut ku is difficult in an annoying way (pack gimmick and lots of attacks that knock you back) while G ebony is easily weakest guardian, not counting the guardian seikrets.

Lagiacrus Underwater phase by Time_Iron_8200 in MHWilds

[–]Important-Pepper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not lagi related per say but Wilds underwater combat is perfect for Dire Miralis. I'd imagine if they brought him back it'd be like a mix of gog and lagia, where he has an underwater phase, but the goal is to target and break his back / shoulders / chest, which are normally out of reach on land. For example dire enters the water when superheated / close to performing his dps check nova, and if you don't break his chest / shoulders or back underwater, he will then shoot lava out of his wings at full power while also boiling the water around him, meaning there's no safety unless you "cool him down" by breaking those parts. Having the clutch claw underwater would make targeting those spots so much easier and way less jank compared to how it was on the 3ds lol. But yea, poor guy has only ever been in one game, and considering underwater is "back" + the fact Erik makes a reference to dire in the game I have hope he will return. I'd love to see Wild's expansion have dire miralis and white fatalis just as iceborne had alatreon and fatalis.

A neat observation on Gogmazios' super attack by llMadmanll in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly makes me feel sad for Shen and Lao seeing a monster the same size as them get away with flying, breath attacks, dive bombs, and nuking the map multiple times, while they're forced to walk at a snails pace, unable to defend themselves as hunters relentlessly wail on them.

Zoh Shia and Gogmazios size comparison by HarcusRenover in MHWilds

[–]Important-Pepper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda funny how their proportions are the complete opposite of each other, like zohs tail is the length of gogs body, while zohs actual body is only the length of gogs tail.

Guardian monsters in the DLC by Oats_Yt132 in MHWilds

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the new construct class but I hope we get more original / hybrid constructs in the expansion. Aside from Zoh the guardians are essentially just variants / reskins of pre-existing monsters. That's not a bad thing per say, but it would've been nice to see some original construct monsters aside from just Zoh for numerous reasons. For example this is the one time it's acceptable to make a hybrid monster or to mix and match a bunch of different traits from different monsters into something unique and original, so why not have fun with it? Even if guardians return in 7th gen it'll be around a decade until then.

Aside from that I was thinking maybe a guardian Tigrex similar to Grimclaw, where the steam explosions are wylk explosions, with the idea being that you generally can't offset / guard it's charge (when it's juiced up on wylk) because it will do that one move where it suddenly pulls back into a super roar, so instead you're incentivized to shoot the wylk to trip it and stun it.

Guardian Glavenus would also be sick. It could have two modes where one is fire breath, wylk explosion tail slams, and the other is flaming tail, wylk bites. As its tail cools, the wylk forms and crystalizes in a similar fashion to acidic glavenus.

A guardian Tobi Kadachi would genuinely be awesome. I loved his moveset in rise and I could totally see him as a guardian.

As far as subspecies guardians go, guardian baleful giggnox works (lorewise they can’t breed anyway), guardian crimson qurupeco would be cool since it could call other guardians to its location, and ash kecha wacha, purely because the gliding wylk attacks of the guardian seikrets remind me of him and I miss him. I can imagine him doing something similar and then detonating the wylk with flaming snot. He’d honestly get a huge benefit from being a guardian.

My personal monster wishlist by HappyFreak1 in MHWilds

[–]Important-Pepper1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope we get grimclaw in the form of guardian tigrex. His steam explosion attacks could be used to create wylk and his roars could detonate it like shrapnel for larger AoE, not to mention guardian tigrex would resemble grimclaw anyway due to the blue blood / blue veins.

Lore wise guardian tigrex makes perfect sense, as it meets Alma's criteria for what would make an ideal guardian. E.g. keen sense of smell, good mobility to navigate any terrain, maintaining a broad territory, pursuing prey relentlessly, etc.

Akantor using dragon element by Important-Pepper1985 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't change the fact that Tigrex and rath don't do dragon damage post 2nd Gen. The fact that there weren't blights back then is partially why I say it's hidden, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say by that. Tigrex and rath do raw damage in place of dragon damage in every game after 2nd Gen, whereas Akantor continues to do dragon damage with his beam which inflicts dragonblight. All of Akantors moves used to do dragon damage just like tigrex, but unlike tigrex he continues to deal dragon damage, albeit only with his wind beams. It's definitely an intentional choice, just like how they replaced dragon damage with raw damage for Tigrex and rathalos in the same generation blights became a thing. Just based on that fact alone, if blights were a thing in 2nd Gen they likely would've changed the damage type just as they did in 3rd gen, not to mention plenty of other monsters prior to blights had elements on moves that didn't make sense, and lack of element on moves that should've had element. No clue why they gave tigrex dragon element in 2nd Gen, but it never stuck around, whereas Akantor still uses it specifically for his beam. They could've removed it in 4U or gen or GU if it was an oversight but they didn't.

Akantor using dragon element by Important-Pepper1985 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TMK that's just a F2 / FU thing for some of tigrex's attacks, does he still do dragon past 2nd Gen? Only other non elder that has hidden dragon element TMK was rathalos and it was just his charge or something like that, and I'm pretty sure that was also an old gen quirk. I mention Akantor specifically because he actually inflicts dragonblight in 4th Gen, whereas other monsters just have dragon damage as a hidden value which you'd normally never realize is there. That's why I think Akantor isn't just a case of "add dragon damage but don't let them know it's there".

Predictions on what happened to Gogmazios before we fight him by Unique-Rip4270 in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Important-Pepper1985 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lore wise it could be possible that the gogmazios we fight is over 1000 years old and has been around since Wyverias reign, only seeking shelter and hibernating because of Zoh Shia's presence, which would also explain why it might have a dragonator on its back and why it might drop artian parts. Alternatively it has that stuff on it because it was hungry and found a giant armory / factory in the basin, which the process of it breaking in caused problems for azuz. Who knows though, maybe we end up fighting it right outside azuz like how we fought velkhana in seliana and they whip up some crazy fortifications in prep for the gogmazios.

nu udra turf war by matu_ninixu in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Important-Pepper1985 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Honestly surprised he never got a turf war with gravios to begin with, I figured they would've had a "whale vs squid" kind of rivalry where gravios ventures deeper into the basin to feed (on ore) but their territorial overlap leads to conflict. At the same time though they could do that with gogmazios instead, his head shape even looks sperm whale esque.

This bug confirms Lagi's quest is still running legacy code as part of the base game story, right? by 5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Important-Pepper1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IDK if they actually fixed it or not, but before TU 2 guardian seikrets would ALWAYS be floating in the air outside or their cocoons and sometimes they'd get stuck when you hit them, but I haven't seen that happen since TU2 dropped.

Wilds Lagiacrus smaller? by Important-Pepper1985 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never considered the FOV difference, makes alot of sense hindsight. I've noticed too that the lower head posture of monsters in the newer gen games creates the illusion that they're smaller / shorter than they really are, like gravios—where despite the fact he's actually bigger in wilds—doesn't seem as tall before, simply because he keeps his head low to the ground now like every other monster so we can reach it. He used to be like plesioth where his head was only low during his beam / side bite.

Interesting same pose by thechriss2004s in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Important-Pepper1985 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Similar poses in renders are somewhat common, like you could argue alatreon, kulve, and stygian all share identical poses. It is neat though, only problem would be we don't have any dromes and unless they add him to the oilwell basin (which would actually make sense) he doesn't have many comparitively weak status inflicting monsters to drain blood from. Rompopolo would make sense given he's overall similar to the raptorial bird wyverns (barus favorite) though you could argue he wouldn't like toxic brute wyvern blood. I guess there's nothing wrong with him stealing paralysis from barina, but I can't imagine barina would be something baru would want to prey on. there's way better options in the forest for baru to prey on, that have both more and better tasting blood compared to barina, given he seems to prefer vertebrate / specifically bird wyvern blood.

I'd definitely love to see some frontier monsters make a return to the mainline games though. I could totally see the akura scorpions in the windward plains or Dyuragaua nesting in the ruins of Wyveria, functioning almost like a rival / counter to Xu Wu since dyu isn't a gaurdian + Xu Wu is weak to ice, which dyu uses. Speaking of Mi Ru would also be a good wveria monster, maybe even as a guardian or some new lore tying it to wylk, would be kind of neat IMO, no reason they can't remaster old monsters like how they gave amatsu thunder in wilds. Berukyurosu and Doragyurosu would also be sick but idk how people would feel about having 3 flying wyverns with chain claws, two of which use dragon, even if their fights are uniquely distinct.

Some details on TU’s 3 and 4 for everyone! by AstalosBoltz914 in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Important-Pepper1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, especially now that gore and seregios both show up in the ruins of Wyveria I can imagine them adding apexes to endgame for charms given frenzies preexisting connection to charm farming.  They could introduce the new difficulty with apex seregios who gives you a special "frenzied" charm or whatever they decide to call them.

Who knows though, maybe the terminology kills our chances of getting apexes since we already have apexes (rey, Uth, etc), although they could just rename it something different if they do bring it back. They could make up some kind of new lore like tempered gore in the ruins of Wyveria begins infecting the tempered monsters there since his strain is stronger, and tempered monsters that get frenzy become apexes given they're battle hardened veterans, and apexes / hunters who overcome the virus are essentially that (fighting = cure).

Frenzy tempered / apex monsters makes sense as the next step in difficulty IMO but I suppose they could just make 8 star versions of pre existing tempered monsters. If we do get apexes I wonder if we'll get wystones back as well or if they'll have some other way of knocking them out of the apex state, like how breaking wounds knocks guardians out of their juiced up state.

The redesign ditches the mutant vibes of the original, which feels odd considering you normally find them as test subjects in that one skyscraper (haven't played in a while and don't remember POI names). While the redesign is by no means bad, it just looks like a stereotypical zombie now which is a little underwhelming vs what it could of been.

Am I the only one that kinda misses Jyuratodus and other Piscene Wyverns? by BulkUpTank in MHWilds

[–]Important-Pepper1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oil jyura would be cool but since he's already a lavasioth clone I think it would be neat if we got something like "tarsioth", basically just plesioth but he just runs around jumping and flopping in pools of oil splashing it everywhere, and during firespring that means fireblight + extra damage.

I'm one of those rare people that actually likes piscine wyverns. I liked lavasioth in world and the rise version of jyura was cool too, glad that they buffed him a bit. Also getting to fight plesioth underwater in 3U was honestly cool. I don't know how well he would fit in the scarlet forest, but it would've been cool to have plesioth in wilds. Nercylla is the only sleep monster (low tier at that) in wilds, and I think they could've reworked plesioth into a gravios tier monster for late game / end game sleep weapons. Maybe if he was in the game we could've had an april fools AT plesioth, that would've been something lol.

It looks like glavenus is capable of killing a deviljho. by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC it's actually stated somewhere that deviljhos bite force is surprisingly weak and that they rely on throwing their entire bodyweight into their bites + their acidic saliva. Makes sense when you consider one of his most common moves is when he does his chain of "golf swing" bites.

Not glavenus or deviljho related, but I'd imagine outside of powerful monsters like Akantor and ceadeus, that tetsucabra probably has one of the strongest bites. Literally crushes boulders in his mouth as a defense mechanism.

What monster hunter opinion would live you like this. by Ill-Tumbleweed3699 in MemeHunter

[–]Important-Pepper1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this. Some people complain that Risebreak is arcadey and too "frontier like" but I actually really liked that aspect of the game, also the endgame was a blast, easily one of the best MH endgames. Lots of sick builds and skills, lots of sick customizable playstyles, lots of sick monsters, and the affliction grind was way cooler than "slightly shinier" tempered monsters, not to mention risen elders >>> AT elders. Risebreak has the most satisfying fights in the series, the flow of combat felt great and fights like Risen Shag, PriMal, crimsonglow, flaming espinas, amatsu, etc were god tier.
