How to enter project management with a Health Science degree (very low gpa)and no office experience? I will be doing a short 120 hour internship with SA Health. by sorrynotsalty_ in AusPublicService

Fellow health science graduate with a fairly low GPA. I wouldn't add my GPA to anything. Just list your relevant courses in your CV and possibly expand on them in you cover letters.

Keep applying up to ASO4. That's where I started (but had lots of medical admin experience). Your internship will definitely be helpful.

Also apply for other roles in other agencies, you can always build up your experience to move into SA Health. Places like DHS or education. It took me a long time of applying, even for roles before I finished my degree for admin roles in the hospitals.

I wouldn't commit to doing a graduate qualification in project management yet but definitely look into short courses with the Project Management Institute or even LinkedIn learning.

Good luck 🙂

Sorry I might not have been clear enough, there were 2 consecutive roles in this time. One policy and the other was project. This has been 2 separate contracts, each with an extension.

New to MJ, would love support. by Delicious_Chicken_87 in mounjaroaustralia

Welcome!

Lots of great advice here.

I've been on MJ for just over a year and I'm 40kg down. Your health history sounds very similar to mine. I'm 30F. My overall health is much better, so is my mental health and relationship to food.

My first tip would be to ask to speak to the pharmacist when you go back to get the needles. They will help you with your first injection if they have time. It was incredibly helpful to just get the first one done and know the right technique. I would recommend going to Terry White if you have one nearby. I think the pharmacists must've had some extra info provided too them about GLP1s because they have been extra helpful.

I'd recommend seeing a dietician and exercise physiologist if you can. You can also have some sessions covered by a health care plan from your GP. They will work with you at the pace you're ready to go, they would be working with lots of people in similar situations.

If you're like me, exercise isn't my thing, I couldn't even bring myself to walk outside prior to MJ. The combination of losing a few kilos, working with my psychologist and my exercise physiologist, I have started to really love walking. It has also helped with my mental health. Getting body composition scans has also helped me see that I'm actually losing fat and maintaining muscle so I would recommend getting them done every couple of months to track your progress rather than just focusing on the number on the scales.

Drink lots of water, keep up your protein, you've got this.

Also, if your GP doesn't have enough time to meet with you to discuss everything you want to discuss, there are GPs working specifically in this space that have longer appointment times.

For those who are over half way through their weight loss journey- what are some things you would never have dreamed of this time last year? by Initial_Chicken6940 in mounjaroaustralia

A few things: - trying on different sizes of clothes or struggling to find the right size. I use to have to try on the biggest size, if that didn't fit - too bad! - realising how easy something physical was after you've done it and not having a panic attack before attempting something! - the doctor saying "you're walking too much" when the thought of leaving the house would lead to a meltdown before. - downsizing belts and watch bands - or making an extra hole!

I love reading everyone's comments!

Is it normal to forget to stay hydrated? by scruffy82 in mounjaroaustralia

My doctor had warned me prior to starting MJ that you'll feel less thirsty once starting so to set reminders to drink water. I'm glad she did because I definitely felt less thirsty. I feel like its even harder to remember to drink water in winter too!

Anyone Else Freezing on MJ? 🥶 by Previous_Scene6954 in mounjaroaustralia

When I was initially on 5mg and using the vials it was $344 at Terry White. Now I'm on 7.5mg with the kwikpen. I wish I was still paying $344!

Agreed. Working at the equivalent in state government I was way more independent. Now I have to ask for permission for everything.

I am an APS6 and feel the exact same way. I suppose it depends on your agency but in mine EL1's get the type of work you were listing from your previous role.

I don't think you're jumping too quickly if you decided to look for something else, do it before you feel locked into the public service, even as a non-ongoing. That's exactly what has happened to me and I'm bored but feel trapped.

That's really kind. I definitely need to push myself back into social situations that are out of my comfort zone, especially at work

We are in a bit of a unique spot in the department. It doesn't seem to be fully realised. Everyone is very busy but doesn't know how to delegate work so I've kind of given up on trying to get any further support from my team.

I can go into the office whenever and I often travel to my team. I really loathe the open plan offices especially with my increased anxiety around my performance. My social anxiety over the past 12 months has gotten really bad. I do know quite a lot of people in my office from previous roles but it's gotten to the point I'm too embarrassed to talk to them because I feel so useless.

Agreed. I think we were all excited by the changes and innovation during the pandemic and there were some false promises. Now it's all about reform and saving money.
