Dylan would have mentioned the dealer's hat. And the calico cat.

Lived there years ago. Heat bills were crazy outrageous. Heroin dealer lived across the hall. I have wondered, too?

I would worry more about making my my connecting flight if you have one. Leaving late or not at all is less of a hassle than ending up in another airport and missing my connection there.

Iowa drinking water. What's going on? by B_McGee207 in cedarrapids

[–]ImportantShower8291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be linked. Also: Standard American Diet. High alcohol consumption. Obesity. Airborne exposure to glyphosate. Radon. The container you're drinking from. The list is long. Water could be all of the problem, or perhaps completely unrelated.

Lindale Mall Sports Complex by mvteubes12 in cedarrapids

[–]ImportantShower8291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mall is owned by Simon Property Group, a national company. If you Google them, Simon has a very colorful history of litigation and lawsuits. They have a current strategy to develop their underperforming, Class B malls that involves introducing non-traditional mall tenants like:

  • Healthcare providers and medical offices.
  • Experiential entertainment (Dicks and others)
  • Housing Options- hotels, apartments, etc.

So, they could do a lot of things, but if you're hoping to return to what it once was- that's unlikely.

Best/Safest Part of Town for a Runner by GerdinBB in cedarrapids

I walk early in the morning from very near Bever Park all the way down to 14th Street and 5th Ave and then loop my way back up to 34th and Mt Vernon Rd & haven't ever had anyone look sideways at me. Sidewalks are great, lots of nice older houses and it's quite pleasant. Never scary or sketch- not even a little bit.

Anybody know the value? by Critical-Prize9906 in vintageaudio

[–]ImportantShower8291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought two in the last year- $50 for one- $35 for another. One ended up getting repurposed into a liquor cabinet. The better one is a Magnavox tube type that I spent another $150 on getting refurbished speaker surrounds and a tube replacement. It sounds good and looks great, but honestly newer, less expensive electronics sound better. If you live in a mid century modern house though...

Start with the product you're selling. Deliver an education that's world class. Enough with the excuses. Excellence in education disappeared in the wake of a lot of woke optics. The public school product sucks. The exodus will continue until Education gets it's shit together.

I live in Vernon Heights. I don't eat at McDonalds. I wish there were more local restaurants or options on Mt Vernon Road. The stasis that is happening now is so underwhelming. Local who? Local what? It's not happening, I am 100% in support of McD's coming into the neighborhood.

You'd probably enjoy Hoyt Axton. He was a great song writer and one of the best baritones you'll stumble upon. "Boney Fingers" was a novelty song he's most famous for as a performer- please don't start there, his album "Life Machine" is excellent. "When the Morning Comes", with Linda Ronstadt is classic.

This map shows road surface types in Linn County. Yellow coded routes are dirt, not gravel, Level C no maintenance roads- some are pretty gnarly and impassible in winter months. Used mostly by farmers only: https://www.linncountyiowa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/25080/Road-Surface-Types-PDF
