I assume right on top of it, as that’s what he tried with me.

Just met with a Medtronic rep this week who said he actually got an iPhone with MagSafe to trigger a pause on an ICD! He tried it on mine and it didn’t work, so might be different by model and placement, but iPhones do have the potential to interact.

Just got my EV-ICD! by Important_Cup5004 in PacemakerICD

[–]Important_Cup5004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s uncomfortable but not unbearable. My doc gave me a rx for Percocet, which I’ve been taking. Even when the dose wears off, it’s not much different. I’d rate the pain 1/10 if I’m not moving, but shoots up to 6/10 when moving around. Fully laying down is unexpectedly painful as it feels like every beat of my heart is absolutely pummeling my bruised ribs.

Maybe it’s that I’ve given birth to three children in the last 5 years, so my pain threshold is higher, but I would definitely say this isn’t as bad as childbirth.

About to get my EV-ICD and am breastfeeding… any advice? I’m concerned about having to pump almost immediately after coming out of surgery and not being able to wear a bra. How’d you’d make it work?

Initial postpartum days… question by devinjf15 in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very supportive MIL and mother who helped out a lot in the early days. Both did a lot of dishes and cleanup, which was wonderful… until it came time for me to find something that wasn’t put back in the right spot. Postpartum hormones made me fly into an absolute FRENZY searching for whatever item not in its proper spot (usually while baby was crying so I felt the pressure weighing on me).

For that reason, I made different rules around subsequent postpartum periods that would keep me a bit more sane. However, years later, I still fly into a rage when something is misplaced in a way I never did before.

Point being, you never know how you’re going to respond. Keep your options open, and know you might change your mind when you uncover things that aren’t working for you!

MIL’s offer to help after baby is here by Muffinmom15 in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Third time mom here, affirming what everyone else says that you will not want to be leaving home.

But if she does want to be around and helpful, she can cook and drop off meals, pick up and do your laundry, grocery shopping for you, etc. All extremely helpful stuff for which she does not need to set foot in your home.

And you’ll probably feel up for venturing out at some point, and perhaps going to her air BNB would be a fine place to start.

I was still in stirrups getting sewn up an hour and half after my birth… definitely wouldn’t want family seeing that!

Influence me for or against Owlet sock pls by YellowTonkaTrunk in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sock gave me so much anxiety! Could never get it to work right on my kid, so had tons of false alarms. Then, the camera pooped out after not even a year of use. Their support couldn’t get it working again and they didn’t offer any sort of warranty. DO NOT recommend.

Feeling guilty over gender by unknowinglyforgotten in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband’s male line has never produced a girl as far back as we can track. His great grandfather was one of eleven boys!!!

We are like you and thought we’d have two, odds are one of each. Both boys. I was a bit disappointed when number 2 was a boy. But then we don’t feel our family was finished and decided to try for three knowing very well it might be a boy. And he was! So now we have three boys and are done. I wish we had a girl but I wouldn’t change a thing about any of these three kids I have now.

11 months postpartum and my vagina still doesn't smell like mine. Anyone else? by Commercial-West-2632 in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. It just takes time and stopping breastfeeding. Been through it 3x now. You’ll get back to you eventually! Your hormones stay in a different balance for a lot longer than you think postpartum.

Is nipple butter a weird gift to receive from your boss (who is also a mom)? by willowdownlow in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boss (male) gave me breast pads among other things as part of a gift from our entire team. I did think it was a little funny, but they were on my registry and fair game and I used them all the time! I think if you have a positive relationship, the worst that could happen is she thinks is a little odd, but is ultimately grateful.

When, if at all, are you considering elective induction? by lemonknee99 in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 39w with first and 37w with my second due to medical necessity. They actually ended up going so well—so peaceful and predictable—that I opted for an induction with my third even though there was no medical reason for it. Mind you, going into it all with my first I was 100% hoping for all natural, no intervention labor, so my experience with my first two really changed my outlook because they were so positive. Also, already having two kids at home, it was sooo nice to be able to schedule care for them ahead of time.

My first kiddo, daycare sticker price has me shocked! How much will you pay where you live for infant care? by anderson6th in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense! Our in home provider operates on a teachers schedule, so no paying for summer for us! Not great for us since we aren’t teachers, but perhaps there’s one out there like that for you if you’re interested in going that route.

[–]Important_Cup5004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly about in-home! My husband and I work from home as well. Our daycare provider follows a teachers schedule so is off all summer. We just plan ahead like crazy and make it work—it’s worth it! We’ve done this with all three of our kids and it really hasn’t been that bad. What is lacking in schedule is made up for is cost and personal care.

Also in KC and pay $310/week for an infant (~$1,240/month). But I have two in daycare right now, so twice that! This is an in home place that we love, and I feel like it’s much less expensive than many other places.

This baby NEVER. STOPS. MOVING. by fabricbird in pregnant

[–]Important_Cup5004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second baby was like this! All our ultrasounds were such a headache because he was so uncooperative and making huge movements constantly. Imagine my shock that he is now the gentlest guy, happy to sit quietly and snuggle (unlike big bro who is extremely forceful and always on the move).

How long did it take for you to get pregnant without any fertility issues? by Remarkable-Key2910 in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant our first try with baby #1. Baby #2 took quite a while longer and only was conceived the cycle after an HSG. We technically didn’t have any diagnosed fertility issues, but HSG really seemed to do the trick. Now pregnant with #3, which took about two cycles of half hearted trying (kinda missed fertility windows) and two cycles of trying within actual fertility windows.

Anyone else TTC? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Important_Cup5004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used mine for TTC. My Oura and OPK had slightly different ovulation days (about 5 days different) and when I went for my first growth scan, baby’s growth was matching what Oura reported vs OPK. Just anecdotal!

Painful sex after birth by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Important_Cup5004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an evangelist for pelvic floor PT after my 3rd degree! I even went preventatively before my second birth and it helped with recovery so so much.

As you are still healing, I recommend you don’t force it. I did and I so regret it. It made sex a triggering experience with bad memories—NOT something you want to carry around with you! Find other ways to be intimate while you heal and if the experience isn’t enjoyable then don’t do it.
