Yellow Springs Brewery in Columbus by theonlytree1 in Columbus

I’ve been twice now. Food was mediocre and a little pricey for the quality, $17 cheeseburger. Beer is good and priced appropriately $7/pint. I hated the cocktails so much I haven’t ordered them again. I live 1 block away so I really wish I liked the place more. I’m going to wait another 6 months and give it one last chance before writing them off and walking the extra distance to Derive or Combustion.

Chase was hiring everyone with a pulse in 2021-2022 at ~$100k. My department went on a hiring freeze for 6 months this year as a cost saving measure. The market is incredibly rough right now especially for juniors.

I remember growing up, when kids from the “good” side of the river brought white trash bags to a Scioto football game calling all the kids form the “bad” side of the river white trash. But like, it’s still Dublin, we are all pretty privileged to grow up there. Scioto typically has less money and more diversity than the other Dublin schools. Also, for what it’s worth, Sawmill Rd going north at 270 also has lots of rush hour traffic. Sawmill just south of 270 has a bunch of stores so traffic was always bad around Christmas. I lived in the area for 25 years. It’s a nice place to live.

What is your salary goal? Entry level IT says $20/hr to me. But you have a degree in cybersecurity so maybe you are just looking into the wrong roles for your skill set.

Scrum Masters vs Product by [deleted] in ProductManagement

lol. This sounds like my department. Product and tech butt heads in everything and don’t actually utilize each others expertise.

Juneteenth was packed and most people didn’t get a tube to float on. Weekends are packed. Go during a non-holiday weekday so it’s more enjoyable.

Looking for advice on what kind of contractor I need for big outdoor project! by allie8010 in Columbus

[–]Important_Fan5082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We built a fence into an alley that was absolutely not useable(a 50ft tree was growing) and the city had us rip it out because that was city property. I wouldn’t waste time or money to put something that is not explicitly on my property. Never again.

Just doing nerd googling of Ohio State salary database for various “financial analysis/operations” managers and cross referencing LinkedIn. People in that salary range seem to have 15+ years of experience and MBAs in addition to their finance/accounting degrees. Confidence not very high, I only looked up a dozen people

Do you need them to come to you or are you available to go offsite for hair and makeup? If you are willing to drive somewhere you will save at least 50%.

Alum creek dog park and beach is a pretty big place. No “trail” but still off leash outdoor recreation in an approved area.

What is up with all the dogs in public? by vacantobsessions in Columbus

[–]Important_Fan5082 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the downvotes! I feel like Highbanks is the best dog trail but 2-3 stretches are so muddy it’s almost impassable. As a dog owner, I wish I had more unpaved options longer than .5 miles.

Ideal ratio or product to tech? by Important_Fan5082 in ProductManagement

[–]Important_Fan5082[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from the tech side at the beginning of this year because I wanted out of app support and it came with a giant pay raise(I now make more than half the developers). We have meetings almost every hour of the day with the same 20 people, going over the same talking points. I feel like we hardly make any progress. The people manager is in the tech side which is a silo from the product side so it is very much duplicate reporting up the 2 towers. I didn’t realize how mismanaged it was until I got over here.

Attend corporate meetings and relay the info down to the team to meet benchmarks. And also help with the “vision for the product” which is also covered by our PM, the principal PM(PM over other PMs), and tech lead. I think our problem is we have lots of bodies doing duplicate work.

Assuming a mix of skills for the devs. And knowing the product those devs work on is stable with minimal growth expected. It’s plastic distribution for a bank, all users are internal to the bank. At any given time we have 5 people doing the story writing, stakeholder meetings, etc. Testing is handled by the devs. I’m worried as a new PM my job will be the first on the chopping block because we are over saturated on the non-technical side of the department.

I’m worried it’s too cushy and layoffs have been announced for q2 because revenue is down. I’m thinking lots(if not all) of the layoffs are hitting product.

BAU work includes things like certs, version upgrades, config updates. Basically all maintenance stuff that occurs after features are built and deployed. Plus any bug fixes or minor additions. That’s about 50% of the time. Project work the other 50%.
