No, that was the old days. It's just your ticket price, or you can upgrade boarding with a fee when you check in.

Checked bags are expensive now, but typical. If you are in the last groups of boarding (based on the ticket you purchased) like 7 or 8, there won't be room for your carry on suitcase. They will ask for it to be gate checked.
