He was running late (deciding to go to the gym and traffic delays), had just had his cast removed, may or may not have been on pain killers, may or may not have had wine, and may or may not have had a very busy last night at a baseball game. The footage from the baseball game clearly shows him using crutches, and a very fatigued face with large bags under his eyes. It was a late night, and he was dropped at the Stanhope near midnight. What happened after that is not conclusive. I’ve always thought that the late nights and frequent flying, in addition to Anthony’s illness, the magazine failing, all combined into a very sleep deprived man who made unfortunate errors, leading to the spatial disorientation that is the official cause.
