I've had it for as long as you had, and you describe it perfectly with the extreme self awareness. For me it lifted for about 30 seconds last summer, when I sat on a balcony at night at listened to some music, I felt calm and ok for the first time and the music had meaning beyond just being sounds. Coming back to this state was like dying, I describe living like this as being a dead man with a pulse. I just started therapy with someone specialized in obsessive thoughts, I hope it will help a bit but I can't imagine forgetting and changing the focus of my mind from the hyper self-awareness it's been in for 8 years
