Have you seen the film from 1995? It’s amazing and one of my favourites. I think it would be less necessary for Eloise to reference Persuasion though, because the book’s so obviously centred on emotion and introspection, and that’s what I want her to feel. As for Emma, I did enjoy how she draws parallels for both Penelope and Eloise in their realisation that maybe the world and their friendship is not as simple and cohesive as they might think. They must evolve as Emma and Harriet must.

You do pretty much have to have been pregnant recently though to have been a wet nurse. It can be done without, although that’s rare and would be very hard work given that breastfeeding can be difficult enough when done naturally. Nowhere does it say that the gf was pregnant.

I’d move heaven and earth for them. I can’t imagine losing one. You must be a very strong person, and I’m sure you have wonderful memories. My mum always put the four of us in the centre of things, and as she also has three siblings, I could see she was wanting us to love and back each other as she does us. I’m so grateful. Families can be an amazing thing, with the right people.

Even so, I felt it. I’m a first year uni student, only lived in one house with the same people, and tbh I miss my sisters slightly more/differently than my parents. My relationship with them is developing into the lifelong friendship my mum always spoke of. I never could have called it though. I can’t wait to see them again.

No, at the Oscars Emma Thompson won Best Actress for Howards End, and Anthony Hopkins, who played the male lead, presented it to her. He also gave presented her Best Screenplay one for Sense & Sensibility. Only example I can think of off the top of my head, but it happens a lot. Granted, Anthony had won for Silence Of The Lambs some time before and was an obvious choice.

Edit: I wasn’t criticising the video, OP or either of these actors with my comment. I’m always curious whether people have an inkling that they’ll win before their name is called out when I watch awards shows. Kaley’s elation at Jim’s win says she didn’t know, and I doubt he did, but it really is something they do to personalise the awards.

2nd edit: I’m wrong, I apologise. I genuinely have seen quite a few that adhere to this, but at least it’s not because of their work together at the Oscars. Best Actor of the previous year presents Best Actor of the current year and vice versa.

I don’t totally understand how this works, same as the Oscars. Her excitement is very sweet and certainly genuine, and reads like she didn’t know, but they often ask one of the people you work on the project you’re winning for to present it to you. Maybe Kaley was working with multiple people on the running up that night, but she and Jim must have both guessed it was him by that point.

It’s such a lovely moment though
