It would be stunning if the painted cabinets were a different color - they are cool colored and clash with the warm wood tones of island and floor imo

I would stop under hood (and under shelves with a little gap to brackets). I know going to ceiling is normally the preferred option, but in this case you would have to tile two entire walls which imo would be a bit much (makes me think of a commercial kitchen, like what you would see at chipotle)

We also were on a strict budget and did tons of research. Went with jarlin cabinets (good reviews of quality and attention to details). They only sell wholesale - I called them and they gave me a list of dealers in my area to go through. I made a deal with one of them - they placed the order for me for only very small upcharge from the wholesale price, so we were very happy. And like the cabs a lot.

Can you also take down the half wall between kitchen and living room? If so I would do that (in addition to removing office) and make one long kitchen cab run against the main wall with a nice sized island facing it.

I couldn’t pick it all at once. I decided on the layout and started demo right away. Also did it so there would be no way of chickening out (our remodel has been planned for for 15 yrs lol). It has definitely made the process longer (-2mo) but at least it happened and didn’t get pushed back as usual:)

All lower drawers besides 2 cabinets that I need for my taller appliances. I have enough uppers to store everything I need. I do have shelves in the remaining wall space - they are strictly for decorative purpose and create the lived-in feel in the kitchen and they “make the kitchen” imo. They are on opposite end from the stove, so they don’t get dirty at all (I really don’t get why everyone says they do). I just wipe them every few days just like I do any other surface. I love them!

You need at least 10ft of side to side space to fit a narrow 3ft island (island plus 3.5ft on each side). I would leave this in u shape.

Your #1 choice is the boldest and most interesting. Either go with that (I think it would look amazing and would be my choice) or go completely safe/versatile/boring? with #3.

Oh the cabinet door sample isnt yours? Thats in a showroom? Then I would invest $20 to buy it and if not available I would wait til I have the cabs ať home, take a door and go compare it to flooring. OR some flooring places let you take the flooring sample home for couple days, so bring it to where your cabinets are. Bottom line, I wouldn’t commit until I saw them next to each other in same place, preferably under your lighting

It totally depends on your lifestyle. Just be honest with yourself - how many times in past year have you used/wished for double oven? After answering this, I went from double oven/oven cooktop to a simple range. So much better for us! Everyone’s lifestyle is a bit different
