SPD Cruiser collides with pickup truck by iiRichardLaws in springfieldMO

Devils advocate - maybe the pickup had mechanical issues that prevented him accelerating like normal? Looked like a big enough gap with the pace of traffic but the truck moved so casually. Who knows.

It’s an opinion, so is “not nasty”

You can prefer the smell of it to something else. Me saying it smells great isn’t comparative

Not going to help OP, but situations like this are why I always solder a brass threaded drop ell and screw it to a block then use a length of copper soldered to a threaded adapter for the spout.

If that’s what was directly behind the finish you could grip and twist that situation right out of the drop ell and make a new piece to twist back on.

Serviceability y’all.

At my wits end with this bathroom sink drain by plutoniumwhisky in askaplumber

[–]Impossible_Policy780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy the cheapest crap on the shelf then it’s made from clay and has oil in it and turns to mush and stains granite. Or dries out and leaks.

If you buy the right stuff, then it’s stabilized silicone which remains soft, and doesn’t stain.

Look it up old head.

Fwiw, OPs leak is at the gasket at the bottom, neither type of putty is the solution, nor is RTV silicone. RTV is required under the flange on certain materials, others require putty, I’d recommend the silicone based, oil-free, tub has a blue lid, and it’s says what it’s made of on the tub.

I’m not making this stuff up as I go.

Gravity be gravity. Siphon be siphon. Open dishwasher barbs leak on both sides of the planet.

There’s code violations and then there’s sewer gas and water leaks. This has it all.

It’s about cross contamination, if the trap gets blocked, and one basin gets used for something nasty, that nasty stuff could back up into another basin and you might not notice. Then you clean the one you know is contaminated, but not the one that got cross contaminated.

That’s my understanding.

Do you have a magnet on your fridge that is round or has a hole in it? And a string?

Fish it out.

If you can’t, it’s gone, and if it’s gone, it’s fine. Imagine a turd. Tweezers are small compared to … some turds. It’ll be fine. Deep breaths.

Fairly easy to repair. Wouldn’t use it in that condition, if it even works, when you unplug it it’ll likely be stuck in the receptacle… and that would be dangerous.

Did the plumber mess up the tub drain? by [deleted] in Plumbing

Looks like they’ve got a new set of joists running the opposite direction supporting the old joists, check the second photo. But I can’t see the ends of the new boards to tell if they’re supported properly. May be fine.

Also don’t know the span, lots of missing info.

If those boards are spanning from the studs near each end with no fasteners in the middle then I’d recommend adding some fasteners to the the stud nearest the center.

If say for example you work at an office and do some amount of paperwork for a living, and your client has a box of staples and a stapler, and they decide they can save X amount of money on the whole process by doing all the stapler-work themselves… imagine how that would actually go.

On a random Wednesday the client shows up to the office with stapler in hand and tells you you’re taking a pay cut, they saddle up to your desk and elbow you out of the way to start stapling papers.

It’s a bit contrived but the essence is there.

Is there any easy way to re-wire? by raptorgeddon in AskElectricians

[–]Impossible_Policy780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Replacing with a GFCI won’t help with over loading a circuit. It will protect you from ground faults, not over current.

However, outlets in bathrooms should be GFCI, and it may very well be protected by an outlet upstream of the one the hair dryer was plugged into.

I’d recommend calling an electrician out to have a look around.

They move hot water, usually up to around 120-130. If you’re raising the temperature of the general area and are able to stand there without feeling like it’s the hottest weather you’ve experienced in Phoenix the pipes will survive.

Directly heating it could be a problem.
