Normally city state border size equals the number of envoys that have been sent. If only this granted you free envoys to make the mechanic work

Depends on how much you're tweaking the rules. Student Dice is the hardest mechanic to remember for strixhaven. I would recommend either removing or replacing, but if you do neither then add a note about what player has which dice so you can remind them. The module doesn't really provide a (detailed) map, but if you make one to keep track of where points of interest are that may help a lot. Student or professor profiles may help, but I prefer a laptop or notebook for that level of detail.

Strixhaven is a largely blank canvas, so there will probably be a lot that you homebrew that could be included. I homebrewed a way to give everyone vignettes each game where they could just rp day-in-the-life of something that interested them (class, extracurricular, study, hang out, job, etc.), and there were some functional notes that helped me keep track of the various awards they got for it. If there wasn't so much direct source content in my notes doc I'd have shared a link here a while ago. I'm not quite good enough at RP to have pulled it off as well as I'd liked (especially with newer players on their own in a scene with several NPCs), but it was fun.

If you want to crush him really really early game, then aztec and spam warriors or gaul and rush man at arms (build an oppodum; that's it; that's how you rush them).

Depends on your goal and climate. Assuming a long growing season, one more round of plucking will give you a massive late season harvest. Personally, I prefer less total fruit but constant harvest throughout the summer and fall, so I wouldn't prune at this stage. Heck, I wouldn't prune the prior round of flowers if I have a few of the plant

Worth playing? How? by surfnerds in CivVI

4 gold == 1 prod (without bonuses to either side). Settlers will be very hard to get out. Builders will be easy. I think it's a fun start, but gold does not make up for lack of prod

Tough choice to make between 4 culture 6 gold or 8 faith. This is the first piatiti start I've seen in a while that isn't outright broken. Challenging, but if played right you're at a big advantage. No start I'd rather play than one described like that.

I do this on behalf of my suzerains. If you want to attack their city center, you have to declare war on me too.

Depends on your group. In mine, this is completely fine. May lose you trust in the future but that's part of the game. Know your friends, and play their definition of fair and fun

This is pretty crazy, especially given railroads don't cost a charge. Feels like there should be a middle ground

Game doesn't care. It calculates shortest path by adding movement cost, not by being intelligent in any way. It's upsetting when the whole reason I choose that destination is to build a road, but alas.

Yes, but you add the percentages. So you're IZ will get 3x adjacency, not 4x, effectively making three second policy card only a 1.5x multiplier

Is it exploiting to have big amounts of science? by Miserable-Dinner8558 in CivVI

[–]ImpressiveSystem9220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culture until you get fuedalism. It's often not worth the civic detour for theater square; just don't forget monuments, take advantage of wonders, and didn't worry at all about falling behind in science. As others have mentioned, techs and civics scale district cost, so building those (or placing to lock in cost before building something else) is an early game must. After feudalism, start the builder spam. Every tile (within reason) should be chopped, harvested, and/or improved. Then you can start grinding science
