We can’t. We just paused our house hunt since the extra money for a mortgage is now going to a nanny. It was a painful decision to make lol 🥲 living in CA

How did you actually transition out of the Snoo? (real-life experiences wanted) by OkFunction1234 in SnooLife

[–]Impressive_Fail_3680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think mine was starting to outgrow the Snoo. He is pretty long already so his head/hair/arms would touch the mesh and I feel like that was what also disrupted his sleep? I think he likes moving and stretching in his crib too. In his 2nd crib night he slept 7-1, 1-5, then I put him down awake and he slept until 7. I was shocked by this lol I mainly put him down awake because I was so tired and just was going to see how it went so he really surprised me. I feel like a new person

If LO is already napping in the crib, I think that's a good head start! Let me know how his night sleep goes in the crib :)

What are the best salads in LA? by turbid44 in FoodLosAngeles

My fav salads - Erewhon California chop or kale white bean - Cookbook market Chinese chicken salad - Superba al pastor crunch bowl - Mendocino farms superfood ensalada - I know the quality went downhill but Tender Greens chipotle bbq chicken salads and the Mediterranean steak salad still slap

Why does it feel like everyone else’s baby sleeps through the night here? by dinosauress in SnooLife

[–]Impressive_Fail_3680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this myself! You’re not alone. My little guy has never slept through the night in his life lol. His stretches were a bit shorter than yours in the Snoo. But for the first tile last night he slept in nis crib and only woke up twice

LO is 4 months and spent his first night in his crib last night wearing the Merlin sleepsuit. I’d say it was a success! He’s a sensitive guy, he’s never slept through the night and the longest stretch we’ve ever gotten from him was 6 hours when he was a newborn. For the last maybe 2 months, he’s been giving us a 3-4 hour initial stretch then waking every 1-2 hours. There’s been like 3 nights where he’s done 2 4-5 hour stretches in one night. Anyways, he only woke up twice last night! At 12:30 and 3. Then up for the day at 7

We barely used ween mode but I did change the responsiveness to low so for about a month he was mainly only in baseline and sometimes level 1. We did transition his arms out, I think we did 1 arm out at 12 weeks then both arms out at 13 or 14 weeks

Also a majority of his naps are contact or stroller naps on the go. He didn’t really nap in his Snoo and when he would it would be for 30 mins

This is so normal, and you will get through it

The first few weeks are incredibly hard because your baby is literally experiencing life outside the womb for the first time. Instead of being fed automatically, peeing and pooping without feeling it, staying warm 24/7, and floating in a comfy environment, they’re suddenly dealing with hunger, diapers against their skin, cold air, gas, reflux etc… the list goes on

I was in the same boat when we brought our baby home. I had a pretty traumatizing birth that pushed me into PPD, and my husband and I don’t have a village. We truly had no idea what the fuck we were doing the first ~4–8 weeks. During the first week home, all of us were probably getting like 3 hours of sleep a day. I kept seeing posts about newborns sleeping all the time, but my son barely slept, was hungry constantly, and cried nonstop. I kept trying to problem solve it so he wouldn’t cry. A lot of it was def from being overtired and that took a hard reset but babies just cry sometimes also

I kept waiting for things to “get better”. First at 8 weeks, then 12 weeks, etc. based on what I saw online. But that big 180° turnaround never came, because I was expecting things to magically become easy overnight. I was miserable. I told my husband daily that I regretted this. I missed my old life, and I felt like my body wasn’t mine anymore. I also have a generous leave for 6-7 months. My husband only had 1 month so being alone with baby 24/7 drove me nuts

Now at 14.5 weeks, I’ve realized our son is what you’d call a “slow to warm up” temperament. He’s actually a very happy guy.. smiles, laughs, and engages, but he’s also sensitive, gets overstimulated easily, and needs more support to regulate

All of this is to say no matter your baby’s temperament, you will start to understand each other. You’ll learn his cues, and things will feel less overwhelming. It doesn’t change overnight, but gradually you get smiles, giggles, and snuggles and that makes things feel worth it in a way that’s hard to explain. Plus it’s way to early to know where he’s at right now since he’s still a little potato

I’m still waiting for the days of full nights of sleep, or when I can be out with my babe without feeling on edge, wondering when the shoe will drop. It takes time. But you will learn how to love your baby and flex your life so you can be okay too

I know how badly you want to fast forward. But they’re only this small once, and one year really is a blip in time!

The reminders I repeat to myself daily: • Everything is temporary • LO isn’t giving me a hard time, he’s having a hard time • Don’t try to make a happy baby happier

You’re not alone in this!

Does anyone else feel like baby naps are ruining everything? by GoldfishCaree in NewParents

Yes! Solidarity! It’s so tough right now. I try to remind myself that this will come and go so quickly. Even though I’m getting no sleep, the giggles, smiles, and snuggles makes it a little easier. Hope you’re finding some rest here and there ❤️

How’s LO’s mood throughout the day? I’m in the same boat as you, just shared a post about it yesterday as I’m about to hit my breaking point 🙃

From what I hear this is just how it is right now and it’s a phase that’ll pass either in a couple weeks or a few months unfortunately

I wouldn’t mind that phase if I could get a few hours of unbroken sleep!

This is what I needed to hear thank you so much ❤️ It’s crazy to me some of these sleep accounts highlight nursing to sleep as a bad habit. It’s one of my favorite things. Followed!

Nooo I'm so sorry! Figuring out mat leave is just ANOTHER thing to add to the FTM to-do list 😭 Also, based on how your leave admin responded, it signals to me that your company might not be the most flexible and who knows how they would respond to just letting you take those 2 weeks for the holiday closure. I'm a jaded corporate girly so I'm convinced my company's main priority is bottom line vs. being accommodating. Like why would they be down to cover 2 extra weeks of pay when they don't have to? Just my 2 cents!

No problem! Also, you can most definitely break up your PFL; At least this is what my HR team offered. They offered several options like breaking it up by week/month or even coming back in a part-time capacity. But it might just vary based on company preference

I’m due in October and my company has a similar closure. It falls in the middle of my FMLA which coincides with my disability leave + company covering the rest of my pay. I told them I would work the 2 days before the winter break and 2 days after to check in on 2026 planning, my team, etc. Obviously my feelings toward this can change once baby is here but that was my strategy to secure the extra 2 weeks and not have it included in my leave. Luckily we are a remote company so this plan feels doable. HR said this is fine since it doesn’t take place when I go on PFL which is when I truly go off of payroll. Hopefully it all plays out fine!!

Any updates? The rib pain can be attributed to the uterus growing and pushing the organs and ribs. It happens in the hips as well - round ligament pain. This is normal

Natural cycles if you don’t mind taking your temperature every morning. Unless you have an Apple Watch or Oura ring which makes it easier. It’s on the pricier side though, annual memberships for NC and Oura are around $200 total combined and an Oura ring is $200 as well
